To be honest, I have never been a fan of high-megapixel sensors. I mean it’s great and all for capturing details, but I just don’t find it useful. After all, photos from our smartphones only end up on social networks.
So what we get with the Samsung Galaxy M31 is a 64MP main sensor with a 0.8µm pixel size. This is a very large sensor that helps the sensor get more light. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy M31 takes nice pictures. However, in typical Samsung fashion, it still retains the same camera processing as other mid-range Samsung phones.
Samsung Galaxy M31’s 16-megapixel binary images are very sharp, and image processing ensures high contrast and saturation. The white balance he chooses may not be the most accurate, and he tends to choose one that brings out the colors in the scene.

Images have a minimum ISO of 20, so HDR is very impressive. It manages to preserve detail in the darker areas without blowing out the brighter areas. I like the brightness in the attached images, it’s a bit brighter than usual but helps make the image stand out.
Moving on to their 64MP images, they obviously have more detail. If you look at the images side by side, it becomes clear that the 48MP images have more detail. Images look flatter than 16-megapixel images, colors are dull and more natural. And it doesn’t make the picture as sharp as it is with 16-megapixel images. Also, 48MP images have a minimum ISO of 40, which I think is done to compensate for the lack of HDR.
To be honest, I prefer the nice 16MP images as they stand out with their vibrant colors and contrast. In addition, 16-megapixel images have a wider dynamic range and better exposure.
However, it comes down to personal preference and you can use 48MP images if you want to use anything in post. However, most of us aren’t going to bother with this, so it’s best to stick with the 16MP attached images most of the time.

So how is the night mode? Well, that’s good. The first thing you should note is that normal photos taken in low light conditions do not have good detail and are noisy. If taken late at night, photos may even look out of focus. But in this case, the night mode helps. This reduces noise and makes the image more attractive.

For the ultra wide angle camera, the 8MP sensor of the M31 is the same as the 8MP sensor of the M30. While I would have liked a 12MP sensor, its 8MP sensor is great for daylight. Ultra-wide images retain the same color reproduction as the high contrast main sensor.
Images look very sharp, but you can see some noise around the edges. Also, it doesn’t work as well as the main sensor when it gets dark. But this is what happens in every phone.

Now, speaking of portraits, I’m impressed. Well, I don’t have many samples because I haven’t met many people because of the pandemic. But what I have seen so far really impressed me.
