I agree with Rob, if you are using a phone to take pictures you should be using a Google Pixel device. The reason Google Image processing is so good is that the artificial intelligence is trained by the world’s largest image search engine, Google Images.

Over the years, to find out which photos people are most attracted to, Google AI has learned what makes a good photo and does its best to deliver it. The colors become a little more, the focus is a little stronger, the lighting looks better. I’m less happy with my photos than Google devices.

It has 6GB of RAM compared to the 6 Pro’s 12GB, no telephoto zoom lens and only a 12.2-megapixel main camera, but you’ll only notice the difference in image quality if you’re uploading photos to put on your gallery wall. Thanks to this excellent software, they look exactly the same on the screen.

Apple’s iPhone 14 Plus is one of four new models the tech giant introduced this fall, replacing last year’s discontinued Mini with a new model that offers more screen real estate. It has a huge 6.7-inch OLED screen, but lacks some of the technical bells and whistles of its more expensive, equally large sibling, the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
It’s a huge device, so keep that in mind—you might want to try it out at an Apple Store. It feels larger than other iPhones as the screen size approaches tablet territory. However, if you’re a big fan of the phone, it’s well built and a pleasure to use.
That’s £100 more than the base iPhone 14, and that’s just for the screen, as the chips inside are exactly the same.

So, is the iPhone 14 better than the iPhone 13? As is often the case, it’s not a huge improvement over last year’s model (which was available for less), with the same front and rear cameras, same processor and similar screen (although the Plus is obviously bigger).
But there’s a lot to love about the iPhone Plus, especially its excellent battery life: Apple claims it will last 26 hours of video playback. In use, it will last up to three days even with heavy use, and if it’s connected but with less use, it’ll still work after a week or so. It’s significantly better than other phones we’ve tested, and if you’re the kind of phone user who’s always running low on battery, that’s a reason to buy this handset.
That said, it’s still expensive. You can get Android devices with sharper, brighter screens for less money—even if you miss out on battery life. The Pixel 7 takes better photos. But for Apple fans looking for a long-term companion, it’s hard to fault it.

If you’re buying a new phone, the iPhone 13 will be cheaper than the recently released iPhone 14, which is such a small iteration that I don’t think it’s worth upgrading. (Despite what Rob said earlier.)

All four in the iPhone 13 range have a 12MP main camera and a 12MP wide-angle camera. (The Pro models also have a telephoto lens for close-up photography and some nice augmented reality tech, but the regular models should be fine for the average buyer.)
