Update Official Funko Pop Review – If you enjoyed Disney+’s new Star Wars show Obi-Wan Kenobi, you might want to pick up some collectibles to go along with it. Funko has booked new figures for pre-order based on the pre-order trilogy show. You can pre-order them now and they will arrive in September (see here for UK pre-orders).
Compared to some properties, Funko goes somewhat easy on Obi-Wan. You get figures based on three characters: Obi-Wan, Darth Vader and Reva. There’s also a giant Funko Pop Deluxe featuring our bearded hero riding his trusty Eopie. It’s pretty radical.

Plus, you can pre-order keychains with little Funkos of Darth Vader and Obi-Wan. They will be released on the same day (September 6th) and cost $6.99.

Here at MadMan, we’ve managed to avoid the Funko Pop phenomenon, despite the strong temptation of little dead-eyed moppets. But the launch of the Doctor Who line left us completely clueless and rushing to our local Hot Topic to review our favorite docs. Now comes the announcement from Funko that they will sell 9-12 this year. exclusive 12th Doctor in spacesuit at SDCC through July.
According to Funko, unlike previous years, they will not be offering pre-orders for their SDCC exclusives in order to “bring more products to Congo visitors.” We’re not sure how we feel about that. SDCC exclusives are notoriously hard to find, and this move doesn’t seem to change that number. We’ll be at SDCC, so check back after the cheat to see how we did.
I resisted the temptation of these pieces of little trinkets for so long, knowing that once I started, I could never stop. Funk seems to be licensed for everything from Back to the Future to Guardians of the Galaxy, so you can imagine how quickly it can get out of hand. You might think I’m exaggerating, but the 5 different Doctor Who pop vinyls (and two X-Files) sitting on my shelf say otherwise. It begins…
Funko Pop! Harry Potter
Unfortunately, I couldn’t find the Hot Topic exclusive 12th Doctor with a spoon and the regular 11th Doctor I was looking for, but I did manage to find an 11th Doctor with a fez, a 10th Doctor with 3D glasses, a standard 10th Doctor, a standard 4th Doctor, and a standard 12th Doctor.
These guys are just adorable. I tend to be somewhat myopic when I look at toys like this and focus on the small details. But I honestly believe that it’s the little details that best show how much a manufacturer cares about their product. Pop vinyls do not disappoint in this area.
4. The character of the Doctor really captures the essence of Tom Baker’s fun and playful side. They have the colors of the 10th doctor suit correct depending on the 3D glasses or non 3D glasses version. Capaldi’s eyebrows perfectly capture the attack pose of real eyebrows, but what stood out to me the most was the lack of eyebrows on the 11th Doctor! Matt Smith’s eyebrows are very light and almost non-existent, so that was a nice touch from Funko.
I grabbed the hot topic with an exclusive 11th Doctor fez and mop. I’ve always been a variation freak, but his lil’ fez just sold it to me. The sculpture is amazing; The shoe has a lot of nice detail work and really captures the 11 character, despite the standard Funko look. I would have liked to have seen his role a little more to the side, but that’s a terribly fanboyish complaint.
Doctor Who: A Madman With A Box
Unfortunately, the color applications are incredibly sloppy. Like kissing a sloppy Zygon. They also made some slightly odd color choices. Remember the episode where 11 wears purple pants? Did he take the TARDIS to a Grateful Dead show? This is especially strange when you consider that the standard edition has the most appropriate gray pants.

In the fall of 2020, the cast of Critical Role teamed up with Funko to do what was, at the time, an outrageous dream for them. Some of them have admitted that it was a fun discussion that they never believed. The two companies came together to create a collection of Funko POP figures based on the main characters from their first campaign.
To show. And let’s face it, if something you made up in your head for fun with your friends turned into a collectible one day, you’d be pretty excited too. We were lucky enough to get (almost) the entire collection of figures to view for review, with the exception of his special Vex figure on a broomstick. Here are our thoughts on the collection.
