The iQOO 9T 5G is arguably one of the best-looking smartphones under Rs 50,000. The phone has a black two-tone finish on the back. The top part of the back panel is glossy with a carbon fiber pattern, while the iQOO logo sits on the bottom with a matte finish with a glossy texture and the iQOO logo. It is a large square camera island with three sensors and an LED flash. The phone has glass protection on the front and back with an aluminum frame. Finally, there’s an IP52 rating for some splash resistance and a pretty fast ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader.

For the build, the iQOO 9T opts for the standard placement of the power and volume rocker on the right side and the USB-C port and SIM tray on the bottom. The camera cutout is placed in the middle. In the box, iQOO includes a charging adapter, cable, transparent case, SIM tool and USB-C to audio jack cable. The iQOO 9T also includes a dual stereo speaker for an audio treat and excellent haptics to enhance the gaming experience. The overall design and build quality of the iQOO 9T is pretty much on par with most flagship smartphones, although iQOO hasn’t been very clear about the quality of the glass used.

In terms of display, the iQOO 9T opts for a 6.78-inch E5 AMOLED panel with relatively narrow bezels. The screen features a 120Hz refresh rate and a 360Hz touch sampling rate, rising to 1200Hz in instant mode. The display supports HDR content on both Netflix and YouTube. With a peak brightness of 1,500 nits, the screen is clearly visible in direct sunlight. There is no LTPO technology here, but this does not detract from the excellent display used on the iQOO 9T. The screen is perfect for entertainment and thanks to the high refresh rate, everything you do on it runs quite smoothly.

As the first smartphone to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset in India, performance is at the heart of the iQOO 9T. Along with the chip, you get up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The new ‘Plus’ version of Qualcomm’s flagship chip offers a marginal performance boost that’s pretty negligible. However, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC is touted to offer significant benefits in terms of sustained performance and power efficiency. The iQOO 9T also features a liquid cooling system with large vapor chambers and Vivo’s V1+ chip to boost game frame rates through frame interpolation.

And in terms of sustained performance, the phone is very good. The iQOO 9T handled most tasks with little effort, although the internal and external temperatures were much cooler than what I’ve experienced on Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 smartphones. In my short time with the phone, I ran Call of Duty: Mobile at max settings and Diablo Immortal on high at 60fps. While gaming, the iQOO 9T managed to stay pretty cool under pressure. The iQOO 9T achieved a single-core score of 1401 points and a multi-core score of 4192 points, which was a significant increase over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip on the Vivo X80 Pro (review).

When it comes to cameras, the iQOO 9T has three with a primary 50MP Samsung GN5 sensor with an aperture of f/1.88 and OIS. The main camera is paired with a 13MP ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a 12MP telephoto shooter with an f/1.98 aperture and 2x optical zoom. The camera system is capable of 20x digital zoom and 5x hybrid zoom. On the video front, the iQOO 9T can shoot 4K video at up to 60 fps, while the front camera is limited to 1080p video at 30 fps. Here are some examples of the iQOO 9T.

Photos taken with the ultra-wide shooter are not as detailed as those taken with the main camera, but are quite good in good light.

The telephoto lens is more versatile as a portrait camera than as a zoom lens. The photo taken here was taken with the camera’s 5x hybrid zoom.

The iQOO 9T certainly has one of the best primary cameras in the segment, although the other two cameras did not keep up with the main camera. But the setup here is pretty versatile, with the 16MP selfie being very reliable in most scenarios and better than most in the segment. We’ll take a closer look at the iQOO 9T’s cameras in our full review.

The iQOO 9T features a hefty 4,700 mAh battery that is more than enough to get you through a full day of use. Although the battery has at least 10 percent left for the next day, the fast charging charges the battery in no time. The iQOO 9T features a 120W charging power that can fully power the device in about 20 minutes, which is very handy when you’re in a pinch. And iQOO includes a 120V adapter in the box.

On the software side, the phone will boot Android 12 with Funtouch OS 12 on top. iQOO has also promised three years of Android updates and four years of security updates with the 9T. The overall interface is almost the same as the iQOO Z6 Pro, although some of the unwanted bloatware is gone, and you have a cleaner interface. The iQOO 9T also features a gaming mode that can be used to increase frame rates through the V1+ chip and improve performance.

With a starting price of Rs 49,999, the iQOO 9T does not come cheap. But in my brief experience with the phone, I’d say the 50,000 price tag is justified when you consider what’s on offer. The rear camera system here is one of the most versatile in the sub-50K segment. Then there is the incredibly fast and reliable Qualcomm chip, combined with a super-smooth screen and support for extremely fast charging.

You also get good software and even better software support, as well as a lightly sized battery. And all this is helped by the fact that the phone looks and feels great. Sure, the front-facing and ultra-wide camera could have been better, but the iQOO 9T is a very well-balanced smartphone with a lot of power to its name. What you get with the iQOO 9T is style, substance and speed, making it one of the best phones under Rs 50,000 in India. We’ll be posting our full iQOO 9T review soon, but for now it’s safe to say that you won’t be disappointed if you buy this phone.

After launching the Vivo X90 series in several markets, the company may soon come up with another model in the X90 series dubbed Vivo X90S or X90 Plus. This particular smartphone was recently spotted on TENAA, suggesting that the launch might not be that far away. According to the images, the device may have a similar design to the other X90 phones with ZEISS branding, triple LED flash and a large circular camera array on the back. Additionally, a previous leak revealed that the X90S could be powered by the newly announced MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ chipset, an upgrade over the Dimensity 9200 found on the Vivo X90 and X90 Pro.
