Xiaomi is offering the Redmi Note 12 Pro in three configurations. The base variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at Rs 24,999. Then the 8GB RAM and 128GB ROM version is sold for Rs 26,999. The most expensive variant gets 256GB storage and 8GB RAM and is priced at Rs 27,999.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro lineup will go on sale in India on January 11 at noon. At the launch, Xiaomi announced a “Special Fan Offer”, which includes an ICICI Bank offer and an exchange offer, reducing the effective cost of the base model to Rs 20,999.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro Review: Grand Design
The Redmi Note 12 Pro has a simple yet elegant design. The phone retains a boxy shape with a back glass panel that looks great from all angles. The device comes in three color options: Onyx Black, Frosted Blue and Stardust Purple. We reviewed the Frosted Blue colorway and, as the name suggests, has a smudge-resistant frosted feel.
The back panel has a matte anti-glare coating that prevents fingerprints from the phone. While it does register some finger smudges, it’s not as dark as we see on glossy surfaces. The rear panel has a camera island in the upper left corner, with two camera sensors still protruding. This makes the phone slightly wobbly when placed on a flat surface. The glass back has no protection on top and is prone to cracking if you accidentally drop it. To avoid getting on the anxiety train, we advise using a case that Xiaomi has kindly included in the box.
The power button, which doubles as a fingerprint sensor, and the volume rockers are on the right side of the phone. A 3.5mm headphone jack and IR blaster are located at the top, followed by a second microphone for noise cancellation.
The phone’s frame is made of polycarbonate, so there is no visible antenna cutout. An X-axis linear vibration motor in the phone allows for customized vibration patterns across the user interface for an optimal haptic experience. The phone also has an IP53 rating, which is standard for most phones in its price range. It can only protect against small sprays of water and dust.

The Redmi Note 12 Pro features a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The display has a touch sampling rate of up to 240Hz and a refresh rate of 120Hz. Depending on the content, the Redmi Note 10 Pro display can adjust between 30Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz and 120Hz thanks to its adaptive refresh rate feature. My user experience with the display was great as it felt smooth as butter, especially when scrolling through the UI and gaming.
As is usual with most AMOLED panels, the Note 12 Pro’s display is clear and has adequate contrast. The Redmi Note 12 Pro’s color palette is set to “Vivid” by default. You can adjust it according to your preferences. Since I prefer accurate colors, I decided to switch to the “Standard” setting for better color accuracy.
Xiaomi ensures that its Note lineup has the necessary Widevine L1 certification at the hardware level to enable HD streaming on popular OTT apps. Also, it supports HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision that works with Netflix. This is something missing from the rival Realme 10 Pro+.
Like the Plus version, the Redmi Note 12 Pro is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimension 1080 SoC chipset. The chipset is based on the 6nm manufacturing process with two performance Cortex-A78 cores clocked at up to 2.6GHz and 6 power-efficiency Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 2.0GHz. The chipset is paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The Redmi Note 12 Pro also gets RAM expansion technology, which includes up to 5GB of virtual memory.

It runs on MIUI 13 based on Android 12 with November 2022 security patch. Xiaomi says it will be upgraded to Android 13. The brand offers two years of software updates and four years of software updates. Safety Several apps are preinstalled, including Amazon Shopping, Facebook, Prime Video, Netflix, LinkedIn, Sili, Spotify, and Snapchat apps. Most of these apps can be removed. Xiaomi has promised system-wide ads on the Redmi Note 12 Pro, but you still have to deal with Glance and get app recommendations.
In everyday life, the phone easily handles most tasks without breaking a sweat. Popular apps like Instagram, Twitter and Netflix load quickly without any issues. To put it under pressure, we played several games, including Apex Legends Mobile and Call of Duty: Mobile, and ran benchmark tests.
We played Call of Duty Mobile with “Medium” graphic settings and “High” frame rate, and the game ran smoothly with no occasional frame drops and rapid battery drain.
We experienced similar results when playing Apex Legends Mobile and Genshin Impact. Both games are more or less smooth, with occasional frame drops.
Redmi 10 Review
When it comes to thermal performance, it is claimed to feature a 3000mm² 12-layer graphite sheet with liquid cooling for heat management. So, will the Redmi 12 Pro heat up? We tested its limits by running a series of tests and stressing it, and we didn’t notice any overheating or system throttling.
The highlight of the Redmi Note 12 Pro’s rear camera is the 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 sensor. This is the same sensor we saw last year on the Oppo Reno 8 (Review), OnePlus 10T (Review) and Nothing Phone (1) (Review). The setup includes an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera. A 16-megapixel front camera is used for selfies. The UI of the camera app remains unchanged, so if you have used any Xiaomi phone before you will feel comfortable clicking pictures and shooting videos on the phone.
The Redmi Note 12 Pro’s primary rear camera captures well-exposed shots with great detail. Photos turn out to be colorful, but lean towards warm tones. We also noticed excessive sharpening in some cases. Dynamic range is also good as it handles tricky situations well. When shooting close-ups, the main rear camera is good at providing a shallow depth of field effect.
In low light, it works well. Xiaomi has a dedicated night mode that uses an advanced exposure technique to allow the sensor to capture more light to produce beautiful images. Long Exposure The combination of optical image stabilization and long exposure allows the Redmi Note 12 Pro to capture a lot of detail and color even in low light.

Switch to the ultra-wide camera and you’ll immediately notice a change in color temperature and detail compared to the main camera. The 8-megapixel sensor lags far behind the Sony sensor in terms of color accuracy and sharpness. Daylight shots are decent but have limited dynamic range. The 2MP Marco sensor is useless and Xiaomi could save some money by ditching it altogether.
The 16MP selfie camera is also not very impressive. In good lighting, it takes just passable pictures, but even a slight decrease in natural light degrades image quality significantly.
Like most modern phones, the Redmi Note 12 Pro has a 5,000mAh battery. During our testing, we didn’t experience any battery concerns. We can use it for hours while working on the battery drain. We got more than six hours of screen on time with this device while connected to a 4G LTE network with the screen refresh rate set to 120Hz. While using the phone on Jio 5G, I found the battery draining fast. Xiaomi bundles a 67W charger in the box, which charges the phone to 45 percent in just 15 minutes. It takes more than an hour to go from zero to one hundred percent.
