Vivo T1 5G has been officially launched in India. The new Vivo T1 is an affordable 5G phone that packs a Snapdragon 695 SoC, a 120Hz display, decent cooling, and a 5,000mAh battery. Vivo’s T alias stands for Turbo, indicating that the phone is meant for gaming. So let’s find out if the Vivo T1’s base price of Rs 15,990 is justified in this short hands-on review.
The Vivo T1 has a plastic back and sharp edges as opposed to rounded corners. However, the sharp edges don’t make the phone any less comfortable to hold, but I prefer the rounded edges. Additionally, the display bezels were thicker than expected, while the phone opted for an old-style waterdrop notch. The matte plastic back of the phone resists fingerprints quite well and gives the phone a sleeker look. The Vivo T1 is available in Black and Aurora color variants, ours being the latter.
The triple camera setup on the back is housed in a small box-shaped camera island that doesn’t protrude too much, ensuring the phone doesn’t wobble on surfaces. Vivo also uses a plastic frame here, but its finish gives the impression of metal. On the right side of the Vivo T1, there is a volume rocker and a power button, which can also be used as a fingerprint reader. Additionally, there is a USB Type-C port and headphone jack at the bottom, and a SIM tray at the top.
As for the display, Vivo has opted for a 6.67-inch FHD+ IPS LCD panel as opposed to a premium OLED display. The screen refresh rate is 120Hz and the touch sampling rate is 240Hz. It’s worth noting that the normal touch sample rate is 120Hz and only goes up to 240Hz in game mode. The screen has a nice 20:9 aspect ratio and 96 percent NTSC color gamut. It also has an Eye Protection mode.

The screen here is great for gaming, but not the best for entertainment consumption. Also, the bezels are quite large, and while the waterdrop notch looks a little worn, brightness can also be lacking in direct sunlight. On the plus side, the phone is Widevine L1 certified. While I think the MediaTek Dimensity 810 chip might be better suited for gaming, in my experience games ran well at high and medium settings. On AnTuTu, the Vivo T1 has consistently crossed the 400K mark, making it quite the beast at this price point. The chipset also impressed Geekbench, scoring 671 in the Geekbench single-core test and 1,927 in the multi-core test, once again on par with the MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC.
For cameras, the Vivo T1 opts for a 50MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture. The primary camera is paired with a 2MP, f/2.4 bokeh camera and a 2MP, f/2.4 depth sensor. On the front, the phone has a 16MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. The main camera can record 1080p video at 30fps or 60fps. Go here to check out some examples.
