The battery life is one of the best reasons to buy the Oppo A9 2020. It has a large 5000mAh battery and Oppo has managed to keep the phone in a completely normal shape and size. This is not an Energizer phone.
Some times we arrived at midnight with around 50% charge, some days even higher than 60%. Our midnight 50% dropped into the mid-40s this morning, but a lighter user could certainly make the Oppo A9 2020 last a full two days without trying.

As heavy users, we like a phone that we can rely on, even on days when we have time to kill on the train, streaming YouTube or gaming. Oppo A9 2020 is definitely one of those phones. We recently reviewed the Google Pixel 4 XL, and even with this larger variant, Oppo is tearing apart a more expensive Google phone to keep up.
It also performed well in our standard battery test. In this test, we play a 90-minute video at maximum display brightness and see how much the battery drains. Oppo A9 2020 loses 13% from a full charge. This is very similar to the Moto G7 power that lost 12%. This phone also has a 5000 mAh battery and also lasts a long time when doing normal mobile work.
The fact that the Oppo A9 2020 takes a while to charge is the only bad news. It comes with a standard charger and a full charge takes about three hours.
This phone could theoretically offer Qualcomm’s QuickCharge 3.0 as it’s powered by the Snapdragon 665 chipset. But we didn’t notice a massive speed boost (or any on-screen notifications about fast charging) when using the Pixel 4’s more advanced charger.

However, we are happy that Oppo uses a USB-C port instead of micro USB. Some cheaper phones still have older standards and are simply outdated for the 2019/2020 season.
Oppo A9 2020 has a lot of cameras, four in the back and one in the front. Two of these cameras have very low hardware, only a 2MP sensor, but it’s easier to give up on an inexpensive phone like this.
The main camera has a 48MP sensor with an f/1.8 lens. The second camera is ultra wide with an 8 MP sensor. And two primitive 2MP sensors are used for depth shots and black and white photography.
Despite the use of a high-quality depth sensor, the background blur of the “portrait” of the Oppo A9 2020 is quite good. Cut fidelity above average.

However, we have real problems with these 2MP cameras. The phone can take both black and white photos and images with a blurred background when the additional sensors are blocked. And there doesn’t seem to be any obvious difference in the final images, whether they are closed or not, according to our test.
Are these two cameras here just to round out the specs? Do they do anything at all? We guess that they are a little faster the recording of background blur and macro photography. Fortunately, there is a distraction from this possible scam.
The Oppo A9 2020 also takes some of the best low-light photos we’ve seen at this price point. It uses the same multiple display technology as the more expensive Oppo models. Switch to night mode and the phone will slightly cut the view to make sure that natural hand movements do not affect the edges of the shot.
This results in a great improvement in detail, dynamic range and overall image quality, unlike the low light modes of many budget phones.

This is characteristic of the aversion to action. Low light mode is really no different from the mode used in ultra-high-end mobile phones. However, you must manually enable night mode.

How about photos in the daytime? You can take great photos with the Oppo A9 2020. Again, some of the best available for the price.
However, the process of the phone is sometimes too blunt and primitive. The Oppo A9 2020 tries to increase the dynamic range to extremes in too many scenes, which can result in a network that looks strange in the darkest and lightest parts when photographing trees.
