Update Navisworks Freedom Review – Provides download and installation instructions for individuals and administrators. Individuals must log into their account on the Accounts or Education website. Trial versions of solutions allow you to test the full functionality of newer versions for a short period of time (usually 30 days). To cancel the free trial, turn off auto-renewal before the end of the trial period. If you didn’t need to set up a payment method at the beginning of the trial period, the trial period will end automatically.

It looks like 2017 is a great year for birthdays at Autodesk, earlier this year Autodesk celebrated its 35th anniversary, Revit celebrated its 15th anniversary, and now Navisworks is celebrating a double header!
Navisworks And Bim 360 Integration For Enhanced Coordination Workflows
20 years ago today, the first code was laid for the first commercial version of Navisworks in Sheffield in England; and 10 years ago Autodesk completed the acquisition of NavisWorks Ltd.
Back then, NavisWorks was used as a large file viewer rather than what it is today, but much of that technology and principles can also be found in other tools you use every day, such as AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM 360.
Tim Wiegand, the brains behind NavisWorks, worked on these problems for three years before anything was commercially produced; as architect of the wider BIM 360 portfolio, had this to say about the anniversary today:-
Whenever I think about the impact Navisworks has had, I find it hard to believe that it all started in the corner of a university research lab, and that at least some of the code I wrote back then is still somewhere in the product. is.”

A hotfix has been released for Navisworks 2014 and is now available for download from the Autodesk website.
This hotfix is designed to resolve an issue where Navisworks Control and Simulation may close unexpectedly when refreshing NWF. Note: This hotfix requires Navisworks 2014 Service Pack 1 to be installed.

We had an unusual request today, how do you defy the laws of gravity? Obviously in the real world it takes a budget of millions to reach the edge of space and float away. In Navisworks, however, it’s much easier. We cannot change gravity itself, it will always pull you down, instead you just need to change where the ‘Up’ is. You can do this by right clicking on the main Navisworks view, View > Set View Top and then set the desired axis as your ‘Top’. This can be a good way to check the roof drain, or check the facade on the side of the building.
As Lionel Richie once sang, loh, what a feeling, walking around with your 3D Navisworks model hanging from the ceiling!

I’ve updated the keyboard shortcuts for 2014, including “Ctrl + F8” for ratings and special keyboard shortcuts for the Timer and Measurements tools to speed up scoring. With the measurement tool you want to use already selected:-
The + and – tools used with Enter are a great way to get accurate measurements and get close to the area you want to measure.
