It’s no secret that we’re fans of Apple’s MagSafe battery pack, so it’s harder to find suitable alternatives. However, Baseus has a good offering that provides the features you need in a battery that isn’t too big.

The Baseus Magnetic Power Bank has a 10,000mAh capacity with a 20W PD USB-C port. It has a small stand and LED display hidden at the bottom.
It’s made of plastic and rubber materials that attract fingerprints and oils, but it’s easy to wipe clean. The magnets protrude from the bottom with a slightly raised lip and have a gripping surface.
Although the battery pack isn’t technically “MagSafe”, it causes the MagSafe charging animation to appear when plugged in. It charges iPhone at 7.5W when using wireless charging mode.
The iPhone sees the battery pack as a standard wireless charger, so battery level information is not available to the operating system. The display on the back of the battery instead provides a charge indicator and battery level.

Power is delivered to the battery via USB-C up to 18W when connected to a power source. A USB-C to USB-C cable is included in the charging case.
The USB-C port is also capable of charging connected devices with up to 20W of power. It’s a quick way to use the 10,000mAh battery, but it does require a cable.
You can also charge the wireless charging pad and the USB port at the same time. We tested this by charging the AirPods Pro via cable while the iPhone was on the charger. This chemically drains the battery faster due to the higher current consumption and additional heat generated than a single device alone, so we recommend charging only one device at a time.
Baseus claims the battery pack will charge the iPhone 14 Pro Max approximately 1.8 times. This compares to the 40% battery offered by Apple’s MagSafe battery pack.

This large capacity and number of charges depends on the size of the battery pack. It’s not too big, but it’s not too big either.
It measures 4.6 inches long, 2.7 inches wide, and 0.8 inches thick. Apple measures 3.75 inches long, 2.5 inches wide, and 0.43 inches thick.
The magnets are aligned with the top of the battery pack, meaning the pack sits a comfortable distance from the camera bump on any iPhone model. However, this means that when used in portrait, it hangs more under the iPhone.
The battery pack is also on the heavy side. It weighs 9.6 ounces, which is 7.27 ounces heavier than the iPhone 14 Pro Max. In comparison, Apple’s battery pack weighs 4.06 ounces.

As an iPhone 14 Pro Max user, the Baseus Magnetic Power Bank is perfect. Since the iPhone is slightly wider, this means that we can comfortably hold the iPhone with the battery pack in the palm of our hands. However, it more than doubles the available weight.
Size and weight aren’t that big of an issue since we probably won’t be using the phone while it’s connected to this battery pack. It has features aimed at keeping the battery pack on the table while charging, which makes sense given its size and weight.
This means that the Baseus magnetic power bank will have a different use case compared to Apple’s MagSafe battery pack. We stick to the Apple pack when we use the Baseus pack when we’re not at our desks, use our iPhone, or carry it around.
This is not a criticism of the battery pack itself. The larger size is a result of the feature set and capacity, so it’s expected to serve a slightly different use case.

The stand is small, out of the way and easy to open and close. It flips fully open to support the battery pack in either portrait or landscape orientation.
While the prop works in landscape, it looks better in portrait. The iPhone can be rotated independently of the battery pack, meaning the iPhone can hold the video at a better viewing angle.
The orientation or position feels safe. Hitting tables or appliances won’t knock them over easily.
This is where the usefulness of the Baseus Magnetic Power Bank comes into play. Sit at the table, plug in your iPhone, and watch a video while it charges.
