As we’ve seen in recent issues, the world of DAW music production is heating up, with producers taking on fewer features than ever before. Tools like Ableton Live, Steinberg Cubase, Apple Logic, Reason and Avid Pro are still popular but, thankfully, there are a growing number of unique and equally versatile options to go around.

Acoustica Mixcraft 5 Recording Software

More recently, we’ve seen Tracktion Waveform , a great-looking DAW that does almost everything you need on any machine, and plenty of competition from the likes of Bitwig, PreSonus and the likes – the latest update to Mixcraft from Acoustica.

We last looked at Mixcraft a few years ago, so it’s time to give it another in-depth look. This is a PC-only DAW but, on the face of it, it comes with an impressive feature set that includes not only the pro features list, but also an additional $1,250 pack. And with this top-of-the-line version of Pro Studio selling for just $179, it’s already looking like the DAW deal of the century.

Back to the features in detail, Pro Studio has unlimited audio tracks; three types of editing (piano roll, notation and step); video editing facilities; and 7,500 non-key samples (beats, loops and effects). But it’s the $1,250 claim that makes it really interesting.

The latest update is the Castlehammer Veldberg XD, a synthesizer described as ‘cool, heavy and ultra-fast sounding, with analog-sounding liquid filters and solid oscillators’. Then there are the vintage ME80 and Memorymoon synths, both based on the Yamaha and Moog traditions respectively.

The crown should have a crown Pianissimo piano instrument; A model physical piano that also matches the Steinway model. Add in the iZotope Mastering Essentials plugins and Celemony’s Melodyne Essentials and it seems that Acoustica has done a great job as a one-of-a-kind software form, bringing together an impressive array of titles in its Pro Studio form.

Even cheaper! Mixcraft 8 Recording Studio is a stripped down version of Pro Studio, aimed at home and project studio users. At just $89, it still packs a number of useful tools, including a music notation, step and piano roll editor; unlimited ways; 28 effects, and 15 virtual instruments, plus their 7,500 loops. For twice the money, Pro Studio doubles the effects and adds six instruments, including piano, piano, and Memormon and ME80 synths.

For these great tools alone, we think it’s definitely worth the extra $89. While we have you, and to water it down a bit, there’s actually an even cheaper version called Home Studio, which is only $49, and is limited to 16 songs.

However, as we say, you should really dig into your pocket and go for more substantial packages: either in the form of recording options or Pro Studio, preferably the later. you deserve it!

There’s very little to speak of in terms of installation – just download (there’s also a stripped-down version if you want it, but you’ll pay extra shipping), enter your serial number and away you go.

We tested ProStudio on a relatively weak PC laptop and it installed and ran smoothly, opening and configuring itself very easily. After the main installation, you can then install the equally simple – but online required – Melodyne and you’re good to go.

I love a good demo track when I’m reviewing a new DAW, because it helps me learn my way around. Pro Studio comes out very thick – sorry, that’s a word I’m already using – full of sounds, for example, and tuning and editing it really makes sense of what the DAW has to offer. have to do

This layout will be familiar to most DAW users: you get the usual top-to-bottom tracks, left-to-right song flow and main windows for the arranger and mixer, or this window can display page editing windows (audio and for MIDI. ), or a sound library.

It’s standard stuff, but the way to connect windows is great. Plus, I also like the fact that you have volume and pan controls on each track, so you don’t have to open the mixer window for basic operations.

The overall look is logical gray and the text is very PC-like. Opening instruments is easy – just click the keyboard icon on any track and a browser window gives you the option to open by instrument (there’s a VST folder) or, usefully, by audio type.

Apart from the odd issue when I pushed the changes a bit too far (and found myself very willingly in the bottom half of the project – probably my fault), Mixcraft Pro Studio is great to use.

When it comes out, I will definitely be using these demo tracks to find additional features, adding effects, editing (and video options that I haven’t really explored) as well as many other tools, which we will take care of now.

Kastelheimer Veldberg XD This synth is brand new to Pro Studio, and you won’t get it with a cheaper version of Mixcraft. It’s a virtual analog that’s better than it looks.

VTD-42 Vintage psychedelic tape delay This delay is based on a tape delay from the 60s and includes all the tape wah and flutter, distortion, noise and crack effects you could want.

Omni Sampler 8 Omni Sampler isn’t new to Mixcraft – but version 8 is. It’s a pad-based sampler with up to 128 spaces to hold your samples.

A DAW these days lives or dies by its tool collection and, as we mentioned earlier, Mixcraft has a long list of 21 with it. The all-new Kastelheimer Veldberg XD is a vintage virtual analog with basic controls: three oscillators and a filter and amp. Fortunately, though, it looks a lot more contemporary than it might seem.

It has a real attitude under its skin and it will appeal to many people. The tools that have been with Mixcraft for a long time are even more interesting. I love the ME80. When I opened it up, it went straight to the front seat of Blade Runner and has an appreciable amount of both previews and controls to play with, the latter being almost identical in design, functionality and performance to the original CS-80. It seems (which is not such a bad thing).

Another highlight is Pianissimo. This is a model and model piano and is in very good condition. Well, as you’d expect, it doesn’t come with the 200GB piano you can get from the likes of Synthogy that I reviewed, but it does have a nice range of 10 different piano presets – from concert hall to honky-tonk. Up to – Reverb and a robust number of parameters for decent editing, including three parameters for Hammer Tones, Sympathetic Echo, Chorus and EQ.

Other highlights in the Instruments folder include a cut-down version of the Lounge Lizard, which is a beautiful, rolling electric piano. There is also an excellent 303 emulator in the form of Alien 303 Bass Synthesizer.

It’s a shame that some of these instruments have been removed, but there’s a pretty good spread of audio talent here – something for every genre. We’ve listed highlights of other tools elsewhere in this review and if those don’t float your boat, there’s always the great sound library.

Acoustica Mixcraft Pro Studio 9 Software

There’s a huge number of different sounds, all neatly organized by genre, some of which I’m embarrassed to say I’ve never heard of. These genres go straight from 12-8 blues to zombie rock.

There are beats, riffs, bass lines, leads, individual hits, sound effects: a complete library – of course! The only criticism is that, of course, there are a whole load of sounds that you will never use if you are primarily working in a specific sound world or genre.

For example, if you’re really into zombie rock, you might never open the country folder. But should I really criticize him? No, I shouldn’t – you might want to try, mix some cowboys with zombies and get a nice undead chimp.

As a music producer, it’s always good to know that you have a wide selection of sounds at your disposal if you need them, whether you’re adding them to your compositions, routines, mixes, or To use as creative inspiration. Types and emotions. . All options are available to you, however, whether you create or mix music.
