Update Mi Official Site Review – Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra Review: Big and Fast, but Not Enough Andrei Frumusanu July 20, 2021 9:00 AM EST

As we come to the end of this review, it’s time to think about the Mi 11 Ultra. The phone has been out for a while, Xiaomi has had time to release several firmware updates to solve the initial problems of the device, so today’s review can be seen as a “latest” review.

While Mi 11 Ultra is good in its design. I’ve already realized that I really like the Mi 11’s design and ergonomics, something I really like in phones. The Mi 11 Ultra is a slightly larger Mi 11 here, growing from 8.06mm to 8.38mm – an increase that isn’t really noticeable, but the weight from 196g to 234g really is.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro/pro+ 5g Review: Software, Performance

Xiaomi’s camera setup is a gargantuan camera dial, impressive as I write this, clear and well controlled. It sounds silly, but the phone is unforgiving. What I think makes it work is that it’s very similar in design and feel, so it doesn’t affect the phone when it’s lying on top, unlike the wobblier camera systems of the past. When you have the phone using the daily mode it does not look good, although you are always reminded when you use the mode.

The Mi 11 Ultra’s screen is great, but it’s not top of the line. It’s the same panel on the Mi 11, which means it lags behind the competition in terms of new technology. In everyday use this is not a problem, but where this is most common is the use of electricity.

Battery life is the Mi 11 Ultra’s Achilles’ heel – although the phone has a 5000mAh battery, it’s no different from the slightly lower Mi 11, meaning the Ultra is a much smaller device. It’s still capable of average battery life, but it’s significantly higher than the Galaxy S21 Ultra which is a direct competitor to the Mi 11 Ultra.

The performance of the phone is very good. On the heat side, Xiaomi has done very well here, this also applies to the Mi 11 thanks to the new MIUI 12.5 update that we have seen the company release.

Finally, when it comes to cameras, the Mi 11 Ultra is technically superior, as it has the most powerful and most powerful cameras of any phone on the market right now. Although the phone has the best moments of light photography, it is a device that has problems with photography, mainly with HDR processing, which is much weaker than Samsung, Apple and Google. In most cases, these are software issues that can be mitigated using a firmware update – the tools are there and it’s enough, Xiaomi just needs to put more effort into cleaning the system. Whether they will or not, remains to be seen – and while I think the implementation of the device is amazing, other competing phones will bring a different and better experience.

Ultimately, it comes down to price and availability. In North America, the phone is not officially sold or supported, so the choice is made for you and there is no other option than the S21 Ultra in this segment.

In Europe, prices and availability have improved in recent weeks, but you can still get the phone. The issue here is that Xiaomi’s MSRP of 1199 € is too much – especially considering that street prices at the time of writing are between 1300-1400 €. The standard Mi 11 only costs 627 € now on Amazon, the Mi 11 Ultra is definitely not “twice the phone” to justify the price difference. In addition, the elephant in the room is the Galaxy S21 Ultra which is available for 1049 € – the Galaxy has a better screen, better speakers, better battery life, and, technically, better camera recording capabilities. Xiaomi should have priced the Mi 11 Ultra below the S21 Ultra to make it sound better. As unusual as it is for Xiaomi devices, the Mi 11 Ultra is an affordable option here.

While I can’t describe the Mi 11 Ultra as a buy proposition, I still like the phone, and how Xiaomi goes with their phones. It’s the company’s flagship device, it just needs to be refined and its weaknesses addressed to make it a great phone.

Xiaomi has long proven itself to be one of the best budget smartphone manufacturers, offering the same features and a lower price tag. Here we have the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, which has come to confirm this statement once again.

Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is one of the three Note 11 Pro from Redmi. The other two are Redmi Note 11 Pro and Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus 5G.

Now, yes, it has limitations and it’s not for everyone, but depending on what you’re looking for, it might suit your needs and your wallet.

The price of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G may vary, but it will go somewhere between $330 to $400 in the US and €330 to €400 in Europe. It comes in three RAM/storage options: 6/64GB, 6/128GB, and 8/128GB.

But enough beating around the bush, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty and see what this affordable Xiaomi phone has to offer.

As of launch, the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is definitely one of the best-looking phones you can afford. We’re used to seeing high-quality graphics at affordable prices, but that’s not the case here.

The back part is made of glass, although you can easily mistake it for metal. It has a matte finish and is great at hiding fingerprints. You will find the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G in three colors: Graphite Gray, Polar White, and Atlantic Blue, all of which look stylish and beautiful.

The only buttons you will find on the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G are the power button and the volume rocker on the right side. Both provide a pleasant sensation when pressed. In other words, they are soft and provide a satisfying punch at the same time. Yes, I know this tip is on the verge of crying, well, surprise, but what can I say—Xiaomi pushed all the right buttons for me here.

On the side of the buttons, including the power button is the fingerprint sensor of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G. I wouldn’t put my bets on a toe-to-toe race, but it does the job well enough. It is worth noting that it seems to run faster if you press the power button compared to just using your finger.

Ports-wise, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack on top. Wait! Hold your horses. It gets better! At the bottom, there’s a SIM card tray that doubles as the current? Yes, the microSD slot! Of course some bonuses here Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G by bringing all audio wheels and storage cables to the table. Oh, yes, and there’s also a USB-C port.

In terms of security, the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is IP53 certified, which means that it is protected from dust and can withstand rain or sweat. The glass covering the display is Corning Gorilla Glass 5, but I wouldn’t trust it too much.

Xiaomi 13 Ultra In For Review

If you want to be more careful, you can install the plastic barrier and the hard case that comes with the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G box. The screen saver is not installed, so you have to create it yourself.

Regarding the contents of the box, Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G also comes with a fast charger of 67W, which helps to achieve the amazing speed in my hand, the battery part of this review.

One of the strongest suits of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is its looks. It can go up to 120Hz refresh rate, or if you want to save more battery, you can drop it down to 60Hz instead.
