Samsung Galaxy M32 Review: A True Value For Money Champ?

The Galaxy M series is a game changer for Samsung in the budget category. It helped the South Korean brand break the jinx aside and build a niche of brands, giving rivals a good run for their money. Within months of their launch in early 2019, Samsung sold more than 2 million Galaxy M series phones in India.

The Galaxy B series is popular for all the right reasons: it is priced very affordably; Contains specifications on both the hardware and software fronts; The performance matches that of most mid-range phones in the city. Most importantly, the phones look beautiful.

Now, Samsung Galaxy M31 is in the market, price, again, with affordable lines; Carrying better specs and cooler looks compared to the popular M30. The first thing you notice when opening the M31 device is its compact size and quality form factor.

The phone has neat and slight edges, which makes handling the device very easy and ensures that there is enough grip.

Samsung Galaxy M21 Dual Sim 64gb And 4gb Ram Smartphone (black/ Blue)

The M31 has a large display, at 6.4 inches, despite its compact form factor, thanks to a pragmatic design that allows a small bezel and maximum screen real estate. Like the M30, the new phone also has an Infinity U display with a “water-drop” notch. The back design is plastic and attracts an inappropriate amount of fingerprints. The front panel, however, made of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 is scratch- and dust-free and offers a bright display.

The display is AMOLED, which is a steal for the price, and the touch is very smooth. Touch response is clearly premium range. Interestingly, the M31’s display is one of the freshest in this price range, as it reproduces colors in images and video accurately. The display supports Full HD and viewing angles are very pleasing. The phone’s auto-flash capability is a charm to experience. This is the most budget segment, the mid-range phones also struggle.

The power and volume control buttons are placed on the right side of the device and we feel that they are almost gone at times and we have to find the buttons even when we rush for the controls. The M31 has a Type-C port for charging. The first microphone is kept at the bottom, while the second one is on the top. The fingerprint scanner is located near the cameras and you might miss it if you don’t know it’s there. The fingerprint sensor responds quickly, as does the eye opening, which works well even under low light conditions.

The phone is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 9611 SoC processor, which is designed to support artificial intelligence applications and high-end camera functions. Galaxy fans may remember that this is the same chip that also powers the M30. The Exynos 9611 SoC has eight cores; The system includes four ARM Cortex-A73 cores at 2.3GHz for performance and another four Cortex-A53 cores (1.7GHz) for performance. There is a Mali-G72 GPU for graphics functions, which is not a great chip, but not bad in terms of price and results. The Exynos 9611 does a great job in supporting and enhancing multitasking on the Galaxy M31. We did not experience any lags or feature delays when using it for very long hours and while switching between multiple tabs. Most normal games run fine and only once – while playing CoverFire and Infinity Ops for very long hours – did we experience some heating issues. The core processors are amply supported by 6GB of RAM (again, a great deal for the price).

The Galaxy M31 has a quad camera setup on the back and a single-lens 32MP shooter on the front. The main camera offers a resolution of 64MP with an aperture value of f / 1.8, which is a big deal in this price range as it helps to add a good depth to the photos taken. The camera has an 8 MP wide lens that offers, as Samsung says, a field of view of 123 degrees and an aperture value of f/2.2. While the third camera of 5 MP supports depth effects, the fourth, again 5 MP, is meant for macro.

Under daylight, the backlight provides crisp and well-filled images by default. They do not undergo any auto-doctoring to look ‘natural’. The graphics and macros are fun and classy even if you’re not a skilled typist. The selfies are a bit on display and over saturated but we feel that they only bring out the overall beauty and quality of the pictures. Autofocus works flawlessly, even when playing videos, in bright conditions, but it struggles a bit in deep light areas.

The main feature of the Galaxy M31 is the ability of the first camera to shoot 4K video. The camera gets a little hot if you want to shoot in 4K for more, but the result is really impressive. If you are a filmmaker or production designer or part of such a crew, the M31 can be a great addition to your kit. Samsung tells you that the camera does not support stabilization when in 4K mode, but we did not experience any major glitches in the 4K output. Full HD and smaller videos are rendered intelligently. The audio department, which usually gets a sub-par experience in the range of phones, is surprisingly a comfortable experience with the M31.

The Galaxy M31 comes with a large 6,000 mAh battery, which lasts about two days without gaming and long hours of surfing. The device comes with a 15V charger that supports fast charging. The phone comes in two variants, Ocean Blue and Space Black. The device runs on Samsung’s OneUI 2.0, which is a mashup of Android 10. The software is not very impressive and the device comes with silly apps that were never available before. Offers from Xiaomi and Realme.

Samsung Galaxy M31 Vs Huawei Nova 7i: Specs Comparison

The price-to-specs ratio is something that Samsung wants to address and its latest smartphone in the series aims to do the same. The smartphone is powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 9611 processor, paired with 6GB of RAM. This combination manages to offer smooth and smooth performance. This smartphone is not designed for heavy gaming but it can handle casual gaming very well. Multitasking was a cakewalk and the user interface was also quite simple and clean. The smartphone comes in two storage options – 64GB and 128GB. Users can also install a microSD card to expand the storage.

Highlights of the Samsung Galaxy M31 include a quad camera setup and a large 6,000 mAh battery. We are very impressed with the battery performance of the smartphone as it manages to bring us through one and a half days on a single charge. On the other hand, the
