The arrival of the LG QNED91 marks the moment when this new line-up can give LG’s best OLED TVs well-deserved cash.
LG definitely makes the best gaming TVs money can buy with their OLED TVs, with stellar pixel response, great picture quality, and a gaming stick. But the days when LG was king of the OLED hill are numbered thanks to the new line of QNED panels. Using an exclusive combination of Quantum Dot and Nanocell technologies with mini-LED backlighting, the new LG QNED91 4K TV is for all intents and purposes as good as the popular LG OLED C1. Combined with LG’s 7th generation Alpha processor, AI artificial intelligence and impressive gaming features, there’s nothing to complain about this TV.
The LG QNED91 4K Mini-LED comes in three sizes, 86, 75, and 65 inches – the latter being the size of our review unit. The TV is a bit thicker than its OLED brethren and weighs quite a bit at 28kg, but the wide, curved stand helps keep the TV upright very well. It needs a rather deep cabinet to sit in, so be careful.
Likewise, the TV won’t win any beauty awards, but it’s stylish enough in its simplicity, with a gray metallic finish and small bezels that brighten up the panel. There’s a wide selection of ports on the back, including two HDMI 2.1 ports, an Ethernet port, an Optical port, and a USB port. For additional connectivity, the TV supports WiFi 6 and Bluetooth.

The star of the show is definitely the panel. It has over 900 individual Mini-LED zones, more than our favorite Samsung QN95A. This allows QNED to deliver impressive clarity, contrast, and vividness in both SDR and HDR modes.
The Alpha 7 Gen 4 AI processor works behind the scenes, driving the Mini-LED to create powerful effects. Smart 4K upscaling and real-time image processing ensure stunning images every time, and there’s support for all major HDR formats, including HDR10, HLG, HGiG, and Dolby Vision IQ.
Like its OLED brethren, the QNED91 runs on Web OS 6, intuitive and easy to navigate, with a focus on quick content access.

Lg C2 Oled ‘evo’ Review
No wonder the QNED91 performs exceptionally well. The new Mini-LED backlight is bright and delivers excellent contrast levels with much deeper blacks than any other LCD TV I’ve seen. There are still some blobs around bright white objects or text, but nothing distracting to spoil the viewing experience.
The TV’s AI does a great job at upscaling 4K quality and color management, delivering beautiful, true-to-life images in movies and streaming. Unlike the C1 OLED, I barely felt the stripe effect when viewing content. HDR performance is even better thanks to those mini LEDs, and contrast and brightness are improved to reach a maximum of 1000 nits and a contrast ratio of 6000:1.
Surprisingly, playing on the QNED91 is excellent. Colors are easily and brilliantly matched with the best QLED TVs, and details are crisp, while fast-paced motion is buttery smooth with adaptive sync. Horizon Zero Dawn Frozen Wilds looks absolutely stunning in HDR, with snowy peaks contrasting beautifully with Aloy’s colorful armor and chaotic explosions during battles. Halo Infinite ran fast and smooth, with no noticeable lag in responding to my inputs.
The Game Optimizer makes performance monitoring and tuning easy, and the universal remote lets you control your console with your TV’s remote. Completing the experience is the outstanding audio performance of the QNED91. The 2.2 40W speaker system produces rich and full sound with exceptional detail and powerful bass. I was amazed at the accuracy of the cartridge when Neo saved Morpheus in The Matrix. Mind you, this is a messy scene with lots of gunfire, explosions, and loud background music. LG’s AI Sound Pro system does an excellent job regardless of the content.

My colleague Steve has called Mini-LED a transformative technology and the LG QNED91 is absolute proof of that. LG has made an LCD TV as good as OLED in many ways – maybe a little better. No more worrying about the dreaded burn-in on OLEDs. Whether you’re watching Disney’s Dolby Vision movies or playing Halo Infinite at 120fps, the QNED91 absolutely shines. It’s a pity that at the current price, the QNED91 is more comfortable than the C1 OLED with the same panel size. It’s a great TV, but much more expensive than OLED? No, probably not. But that doesn’t change the fact that the LG QNED91 is one of the best TVs you can buy right now.

I recently bought a newer nano TV and I think the quality of this TV is also good and in fact the build quality is even better because I have been having problems with my other TV after 2 months use.
