Funko Pop figures have appeared in stores. It seems like it took quite a while after the show ended before we were able to get them. The most surprising thing is that it took so long to reach the collectors. You’d think they’d want to develop collectibles like this when the show was popular. However, we can’t control that and I’m just glad we have the collection for this crazy show. I can’t wait to dive in.

Funko Umbrella Academy Klaus Hargreeves Pop! Vinyl
If you don’t know the story, it is about seven children who were bought by a rich man who had grown-ups and became fighters. The Netflix show takes place several years later, and that’s when the drama begins. There are a total of 13 Funko Pops with two Chases in this release, and one of them has an exclusive glow-in-the-dark version coming to Topic. The packaging for each Umbrella Academy character is the same as other Funko Pop boxes, but the side design is unique. Not only is the corresponding number on the side, but there is also a quotation mark behind each character.
In the second episode, we will look at Klaus, Number Five, and Ben. We have already covered number 7 a.k.a. Vanya who also got a special Funko Pop Chase variant and you can find that review here.
In Part 2 of our review, we’ll look at numbers 4-6. One of them has a Chase option, but we haven’t found it yet. We’ll do another review when we get the hang of it. We also take a look at one of the characters with a special glow-in-the-dark Funko figure that’s exclusive to Hot Topic.
We’ll start with Umbrella Academy number 4, Klaus. The side of the box welcomed us with a big pink box with number 4. The pink color on the box is a beautiful white item that makes the package different from the other items. The back of the box reads, “Sobriety is overrated.” in the past.

This figure is very powerful and brings the character to life directly on the screen. From dark circles around the eyes to painted nails; they really nailed Klaus’ makeup. I love the fact that they even added the Umbrella Academy tattoo under his neck and you get a good look at it with the words Welcome on his arm. Funko really upped their game because you can even see the layers of his pink scarf. It’s the little details that matter, and Funko is getting more involved in this as they continue to improve how their designs work.
Now we will look at number five. Number Five is a Funko Pop character that has a chase option. It’s as simple as just showing the number five with a superhero mask on his head. It has a red number five on the side of the box with the words “Baby loves coffee” on the back lip.
He’s a pretty basic Funko Pop, but they added wrinkles to his body to definitely give him a little more life than a lifelike feel. The coffee and the design are perfect for the show. Of all the characters in The Umbrella Academy, number five and Luther are the easiest to design. That said, it’s still a collectible to round out your Umbrella Academy collection.
Funko Pop Reviews is none other than Number 6 aka Ben. This figure has an additional release that is exclusive to the Hot Topic, which is a special glow-in-the-dark figure. We managed to get our hands on one and will be reviewing that as well. Ben’s box has a simple design with a blue number 6 on the side and the word “Super Dead” on the back.
Class Is In Session With Umbrella Academy Funko Pops Part 1 [review]
Ben has a unique atmosphere with different levels of blue and brings his character to life. He was standing with open arms, tentacles protruding from his chest. His tentacles are really soft and he wears a simple hoodie.
When you upgrade to a separate Hot Topic, the box is no different except for the standard window. Looking at the picture, you can see that the design itself definitely has more texture. You can see it in the pictures I took and how dusty it is. The light of the figure itself is very bright, and can be seen clearly from the end of the room. You can still find this character online through Hot Topic posted here.
The Umbrella Academy Funko Pop figures are beautifully designed and detailed. It’s the little things that really matter, and Funko got it right with this figure set. Funko is currently the only company providing us with collectibles for Umbrella Academy. They are cheap and easy, so they are a must for every fan of the show. All of them are still online and you can find them here; try your luck and find one of these complaints! Or you can try your luck at any retailer that carries Funko Pops, like Hot Topic or GameStop. I’m sure we’ll see more Umbrella Academy Funko Pops after the second season. You’d better lock yours in before it’s too late, and they’ll all go up in price when the second season hits Netflix in 2020.
