Update Hd Blu Ray Movies Review – “Casablanca” is a movie that elicits an immediate reaction from moviegoers whenever they hear the title. “Citizen Kane” is one of those films that film fans and historians consider one of the greatest films of all time. There are many reasons for this but the biggest reason is the love story of Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. Dialogues and many quotable lines also come to mind when thinking about this film. I won’t go back and list them all here, but if you’ve seen “Casablanca,” you know these lines by heart. It’s one of those movies that means so much to so many people, and for good reason.
Set in 1941, the film introduces viewers to Rick Blaine (Humphrey Bogart), the owner of Rick’s Cafe America. He refuses to drink with any customers and mostly keeps to himself. The audience can tell that he is mean, unhappy and something has happened to him that makes him lose a big part of himself. He tends to be neutral on almost every subject. Although he is mean, he is still a good man with a good heart. Viktor Laszlo is a fugitive Czech resistance leader. Rick’s Café serves as a place for all kinds of good and bad because of World War II. There are many who want to keep a low profile while others are looking to arrest someone. Rick himself has some war experience, but now focuses on his nightclub. He is very focused on Elsa when he meets her again, and it is clear that the two still have strong feelings. They fell in love in Paris, but when it was time to leave, he left her hanging with just a note that left her with more questions than answers.

Rick has letters of transit that allow two people to leave Casablanca safe and sound and start over without consequence. Rick can give Elsa letters, but that means he’ll leave her too. Again, while he remains neutral on most topics, he can tell the good guys from the bad guys. He is not afraid to help someone in need. However, if he helps her and Victor, he knows he will never see the love of his life again. That was the beauty of some old Hollywood movies: the romance felt urgent and necessary. It never felt frivolous or silly. You can tell that two people really loved each other and it had a big impact on their lives.
“Casablanca” is an old-time Hollywood classic in every sense of the word. You have the black and white image, the classic romance and the big stars. You also have great supporting work from actors like Claude Rains, Sidney Greenstreet and Paul Henreid. It all seems necessary and serves a purpose. This is old-fashioned Hollywood craftsmanship at its best. The war story may make the film a bit heavy at times but it is meant to drive the love story between the two main characters. They are the heart and soul of this beautiful picture. Like a fine wine, this is the kind of film that gets better with age. Even if you’ve seen it several times and know how it’s going to end, you might not be into the story. Casablanca is the kind of movie that Hollywood doesn’t make anymore, but I wish it did.
This is Bogart’s best performance in his illustrious career. There’s a certain vulnerability about him that we don’t often see in movies. He’s also an everyman in the film, and it’s great to see him bonding with his black piano player, Sam (Dolly Wilson). He respects people and does the right thing, but it’s not forced. It is a completely natural performance. It’s not a big or flashy performance, and it shouldn’t be the way we see everything in his face: all pain and agony. Bergman is sweet, tough and very, very smart. She is the perfect actress to work with Bogart in this film. She looks absolutely stunning and beautiful on screen.
I was sucked in by “Casablanca” from beginning to end, as I am every time I watch it. Even though I know how it’s going to end, I’m still on the edge of my seat when they get to the final scene. The last line of dialogue is brilliant and the perfect note to end the film on. I am a huge fan of old Hollywood, when stars were stars and could light up the screen with their presence. It should also be noted that Casablanca won Best Picture in 1942 with Best Director (Michael Curtis) and Best Screenplay. This is Hollywood at its best!
The Addams Family 4k Ultra Hd Blu Ray Review
4K/Blu-ray Info: “Casablanca” has been released by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment in a two-disc 4K/Blu-ray combo pack. He also has a digital copy of the film. It has a running time of 102 minutes and is rated PG for mild violence.
4K Video Info: “Casablanca” looks great in 4K. In particular, black-and-white and older films play quite well with light and dark in HDR mode. It’s not a spectacular upgrade, but I don’t know how much more they could have done to really improve the 1940 film. It’s better than Blu-ray, but not a huge improvement.
Audio Information: The film’s audio is available in DTS-HD MA: English 1.0 and Dolby Digital: French and Spanish. It also has English, French and Spanish subtitles. The audio isn’t a huge upgrade here, but it still sounds pretty solid. I don’t think this is the kind of movie that needs a massive audio upgrade.
I can’t be too bothered about the lack of updated special features since they carried over a lot of special features from previous releases. The fact that you get two commentary tracks, especially one with Roger Ebert, is pretty cool. There are many special features. This is very convenient for movie buffs and physical media collectors – if you love classic Hollywood, you should be able to get this movie in 4K and watch it in the best possible format. As mentioned above, this is an upgrade over Blu-ray, even if it’s not a massive upgrade. Regardless, this is a film you should add to your collection on day one with the hood. Personally, I love a good cover for my favorite movies, and if you want one, it’s always better to get it sooner rather than later. This will make the movie lover in your life very happy this holiday season!
