In November last year, the current crème of Android smartphones had to compete with Proin’s iPhone 13 in a camera comparison test. Since then, all manufacturers have changed their top smartphones, and now we compare them here.
Which Smartphone Manufacturers Are Best For Android Updates?
With the Galaxy S22 Ultra, Samsung has only implemented some minor product maintenance in terms of the camera, using almost the same settings on the spec sheet. The nominal focal length specification has been adjusted slightly, and the HM3 sensor is expected to be re-optimized. In terms of technology, Samsung smartphones are top-of-the-line, offering autofocus for all lenses and optical image stabilization (OIS) for most with the ultra-wide lens the only one.
In the Find X5 Pro, Oppo also uses the same sensor as last year, but for the first time, integrates its own imaging NPU, MariSilicon X. shift sensor axis and two-axis OIS, and optimized color management in collaboration with Hasselblad. Although the Oppo smartphone can’t deny its similarity to the OnePlus 10 Proon in the specification sheet, it differentiates itself from the cheaper OnePlus products with the additional features above.
In contrast, the camera has been redesigned on the Xiaomi 12 Pro. Although the main sensor still offers a 50-MP resolution, it now uses a larger Sony IMX707 sensor. Sensors from last year can now be found on telephoto lenses as well as ultrawide angle lenses. Unfortunately, Xiaomi did not take the opportunity to add a macro function to one of the lenses.
The Google Pixel 6 Pro also offers a 50-MP primary camera, most likely the Samsung ISOCELL GN1. In addition, there is an ultrawide angle lens and a zoom lens with 4x optical zoom. Google also doesn’t offer macro options.

The prices of the four Android smartphones are quite close, and the Pixel smartphone is the only one that starts at less than 1000 Euros (~$1050). In the comparison test, all candidates use the latest software (see the comparison table) and run it with AI support, using the integrated camera application.

Oppo cut the microscope camera from the Find X5 Pro. To do this, ultrawide angle lenses can now be used for macro recording. TheGalaxy S22 Ultra also uses this option. Google doesn’t offer an option, which may be traced back to an older sensor. With Xiaomi, this lack seems to be the goal, and this function may be reserved for the upcoming Ultra model.
This means that those who like to take some macro shots will be better served by smartphones from Oppo and Samsung, because they can get closer to the object. The recording quality is impressive for both. However, Samsung managed to draw a better contour, which makes the stainless steel surface in the fork image better but looks a bit sharp in the Kiwi image. Oppo cannot use the sensor’s high resolution in macro recording, because the mode is not available with the 50-MP resolution enabled.

In ultrawide angle recording, two 12-MP compete with two 50-MP sensors. On paper, the Find X5 Pro has the strongest lens, and we can also confirm this in our comparison. In urban images, the Oppo smartphone convinces with a good depth image and high dynamics. The images of the other three also look good but are noticeably blurrier. This is amazing with the Xiaomi 12 Pro.
The image of the church looks quite good with all four Smartphones, but surprisingly Oppo shows the level of basic noise is quite high because it is especially noticeable affecting the structure of the roof. Xiaomi, on the other hand, exaggerates the contrast, making the edges seem unnecessary.
In the dark, the Pixel 6 Prosurprises with an impressive bright recording, while the Find X5 Pro manages to capture the most natural images. Samsung took the same route as Google, but the contours were blurred, while Xiaomi’s image was too dark.
Iphone Vs. Android: How To Choose The Best Smartphone For You
At lower zoom levels, all four competitors give good results. However, each shows different characteristics, especially in terms of white balance, dynamics, and contrast. While Oppo offers a warm reproduction, Xiaomi appears with a high-contrast image but shows little dynamics. On the other hand, Samsung slightly exaggerates this, causing the contour to be slightly blurred in the edge area, which can lead to some small spots in the light area of the background. Pixels. Indeed, Google smartphones offer the most constant reproduction performance in this zoom range.
For 5x zoom, all models must use hybrid or digital zoom, and the difference becomes even greater here. Pixels in particular still offer good quality reproduction, with 12 Prois on the other hand. Find the X5 Pro slightly less sharp than the Google smartphone. We used the 108-MP mode on the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, which also allows 6x zoom, but the results are not very impressive. So it’s better to leave the image format smaller, but even so, the Samsung image result is worse than the Oppo, because the edges are a bit blurred.
In this area, the S22 Ultra stands out with its 10x optical zoom, while we have seen some real quality loss in all competitors. With 20x zoom, Pixel 6 Prosurprises with strong imaging performance. The Samsung is also still quite good here but shows a darker reproduction. However, the S22 Ultra is the only smartphone in the comparison field that also supports zoom levels up to 100x and also offers the best image stabilization.
Those looking to use the zoom in low light conditions should be prepared to accept a significant drop in quality with all models.
Best Cheap Phones: Five Fantastic Affordable Handsets
The Find X5 Pro and Samsung smartphones use an additional electronic viewfinder with a long focus. This happens from a zoom level of 15x or 20x respectively.

The Oppo in particular has spots and bright areas of the image, but it also has a very warm white balance. On the other hand, Google and Xiaomi smartphones offer better reproduction, as well as capturing more realistic colors.
