The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G doesn’t have a case cover in the box, and that really wasn’t a surprise.
What you get without the phone is a 15W wall charger (still available) and a USB-A-C cable for charging and data transfer. We are happy that the screen comes with a pre-installed screen protector.
The Galaxy S20 FE 5G is an identical twin to the LTE version we tested last year. From the dimensions of the phone and the colors, it is almost impossible to tell the two apart. We’re certainly not complaining, as we find the aesthetics of the Fan Edition phones very appealing.
The S20 FE 5G is made of polycarbonate with a matte finish that actually feels great in the hand. Samsung seems to have a few tricks up its sleeve as it continues to surprise us with the premium plastic look. A high-quality computer has other advantages – it is less fragile compared to an all-glass back, lighter, and does not attract as many smudges and fingerprints.

The design team working on the fan edition phone seems to have taken a lot of inspiration from the Galaxy S20 series. The side profile and back panel remind us of the Galaxy S20 series. As for the sides, the volume rocker and power button on the right side offer excellent tactile feedback. Like its 4G siblings, the 5G variant comes in three colors: Cloud Navy, Cloud Mint and Cloud Lavender. It is also certified IP68 for water and dust resistance.
Sammy has opted for an optical fingerprint sensor in the display. It’s sharper than the Ultrasonic sensor we see on some Samsung flagships, and it’s proven to be equally reliable.
Overall, Samsung excels in design. The S20 FE not only looks good, but also feels great in the hand. We have no complaints about the durability of the phone. And we wish Samsung had good quality protective case in the box.

The AMOLED screen has a resolution of 2400 × 1800 pixels and can refresh 120 times per second. The touch response is equally impressive, and the flat edges should be an added bonus for many.

I am sure you really want to know about camera. Is the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G camera effective? Well, the short answer is yes, they are efficient and better than the Hasselblad cameras sold on the OnePlus 9. Samsung does not offer big numbers like 108MP or 64MP FE, 12MP main trio, 12MP ultra-wide and other 8MP telephoto sensors manage to achieve comparatively better results.
The 12MP primary rear camera is a serious shooter. It provides consistent results in most conditions and good dynamic range. Shots are smooth and detailed with Samsung’s signature warm and rich colors.
Even in low light, it does not disappoint. It manages to retain a lot of detail in the enhanced night mode, where Samsung tweaked its usually aggressive noise-compression algorithms a bit. We recommend using night mode for better and sharper results in low light.
It has a solid telephoto sensor, which is missing from OnePlus 9 and ROG Phone 5. We were able to get almost lossless images up to 3x with it. There is also a digital zoom of up to 30X, which is not recommended.
