Only you know your budget and space (although you’ll find a handy guide to choosing the right size TV at the bottom of this page), but we can help on the technical side.

The biggest thing to consider is the panel technology. OLED now rules the premium end of things and is very popular thanks to its perfect blacks and pixel-level contrast control. LCD is still a very big deal, though, especially at the budget end of the market that OLED can’t touch right now. There are a number of premium LCD-based TVs that are great, especially Samsung’s top-of-the-line QLEDs, which combine quantum dots with mini LED backlights to deliver the brightest and most vibrant images.

You also need to consider whether you are watching TV and have all the streaming apps you want. While some apps, like Netflix and Prime Video, are now common, there may be an app you like that is less common. It’s also a shame that some streaming apps don’t work as they should on some TVs. For example, many Google/Android TVs support Disney+, but not Dolby Atmos. That’s why we manually check that not only is every major app available, but it’s also working optimally.

Serious gamers also need to check that their potential new TV supports all the latest gaming features. The most technologically advanced and therefore rare among them is 4K / 120Hz, but VRR and ALLM are also worth exploring. There are plenty of TVs on this list that support all of these features, but we have a dedicated best gaming TV guide for those for whom gaming is the primary concern.

Finally, you really need to consider the sound, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider a TV that doesn’t sound good. Confused? That makes sense, but the frustrating truth is that even the best-sounding TV lags far behind a good soundbar for audio quality, so we’re always dedicated to paying attention to picture quality when buying a TV. go with sound system We know this option isn’t for everyone, though, so we definitely check out a TV’s speakers and screen. If audio quality is important to you, you’ll find all the information below. Also on this list is a TV that is serious about Dolby Atmos sound.

LG’s C-series TVs have been wildly popular for years, and with very good reason, as they essentially represent the perfect intersection between performance, features and price. This was no more the case than with the 2022 C2, represented here by the 65-inch model. Before we compare the other TVs, though, let’s take a fresh look at the C2 in isolation.

It is an OLED TV with LG Display’s OLED EX panel, which was introduced in 2022 and is brighter than its predecessor. For this, LG added its own algorithms and processing which it refers to as OLED Evo TV with Bright Booster.

HDR is supported in HLG, HDR10 and Dolby Vision formats (there’s no HDR10+ support but that’s not really a big deal), and all of the C2’s HDMI sockets are 2.1-certified and support the most advanced gaming features. – 4K / 120Hz, VRR and ALLM. Dolby Vision gaming is supported up to 4K/120Hz, and there’s an HGiG mode for more accurate tone mapping with HDR games that support it. In short, there is no better dedicated gaming TV, and it performs brilliantly with the latest consoles.

But it’s also a great TV for non-gamers. The bright OLED technology makes for a more engaging viewing experience, but there’s nothing compelling about the delivery. In contrast, it’s the same, balanced delivery we’ve come to expect from LG’s OLEDs, but now with more vibrancy and shadow detail.

Picture-wise, there’s really nothing to like for the price, but it has to be said that the sound is average, even by the fairly low standards of modern flat-screen TVs. As with most sets, we recommend that you budget for at least one soundbar if you’re going to buy the LG C2.

In terms of options, LG’s own G2 is the most obvious. In many ways, it is the same TV, but thanks to the addition of a hotspot, it is even brighter. It also has a picture frame style ‘gallery’ design. In fact, it comes with a wall mount instead of a pedestal stand. The G2 is undeniably a better TV than the C2 unless you factor in the price, at which point the C2 becomes the one most people should buy.

You should also consider LG’s 2023 TVs, which are available now. The C2’s replacement, the C3, is only a minor upgrade, and was priced higher than the C2 at launch, so it’s significantly more expensive than the discounted C2 models you’ll find in stores right now. The new G3 is a big step up, especially in terms of lighting, but it’s also very expensive at the moment.

The Best Smart Tvs For Streaming In 2023

There are plenty of other TVs to be on your shortlist, with the Sony A80K and Samsung S95B being the most similar in terms of technology (they’re all OLEDs) and price. Ultimately, though, while each of these TVs has its merits, LG’s superbly balanced performance, extensive feature set and aggressive pricing make it a crowd favorite that can’t be matched.

And if you are after a small or large TV, you can apply all these results to the 55-inch and 77-inch models. There are also 83-inch and 97-inch versions, but they’ll need more testing before we’re ready to stick our necks out and say they’re that good. There are also 42-inch and 48-inch variants of the C2, but they’re a bit different from the rest, so we’ll get to them in a separate entry.

We’ve already covered the larger version of the LG C2 at the very top of this list, but now it’s time for the 42-inch and 48-inch models. In general, they are like their older brothers, but they are not bright. It is ideal for small
