Update Best Samsung Phone 2021 Australia Review
The Galaxy S21+ is Samsung’s cheapest flagship phone, and it’s trying to become a more mainstream big-screen option than its more expensive sibling, the S21 Ultra.
Best Dual Screen Phones So Far
The new Android phone has an MSRP of £949 – £200 less than the top-of-the-line S21 Ultra – but shop around and you’ll find it for less than £750, which makes it even more desirable.
It has the same metal and glass sandwich design as most smartphones on the market, and, unprecedented for Samsung phones, the 6.7-inch screen is flat with no curves on the sides. Still, the screen is bright, colorful and fast, with a high refresh rate of 120Hz, and everything is super smooth when scrolling.

The S21+ is 27g lighter than the S21 Ultra, but its 200g weight and lack of grip edges on the sides make it harder to grip than similar rivals like the OnePlus 9 Pro – meaning some form of phone grip is a problem

The S21+ is powered by the Samsung Exynos 2100 processor in Europe and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor with 8GB of RAM in the US.
Performance is on par with the S21 Ultra, and it feels noticeably faster than last year’s S20 series. Every action, from unlocking the phone to launching apps, happens a little faster.
This phone can easily exceed a full day of heavy battery use. I get over 36 hours between charges – 7amand more and more than 36 hours between chat apps, Chrome, Gmail, Evernote, Guardian, Spotify and many more 5.5 hours of screen-on time, with about 15 shots taken, took about two hours on 5G and the rest on wifi.

Samsung does not provide an estimate for how many full charge cycles the battery should last. Batteries in similar devices can typically be cycled 500 times while retaining at least 80% of their original capacity.
The phone is usually repairable and comes with a 24-month warranty. The screen can be repaired for up to £219, while the battery can be replaced by an authorized service center for up to £59.
Samsung offers trade-in and recycling programs for old devices, but smartphones do not contain any recyclable materials. Companies publish annual sustainability reports, but not individual product impact assessments. S21+ does not come with a charger or earphones.

The S21+ ships with Samsung’s latest version of Android 11, called One UI 3.1, the same version that runs on the S21 Ultra and other Samsung devices.
It inherits most of the new features from Android 11, including the separation of conversations, media, and other alerts in the notification shade, speech bubbles, additional privacy controls, and other permissions.
Overall, One UI 3.1 remains one of the most polished and well-customized versions of Android yet, and Samsung has sped up updates considerably. The company also promises to support four years of major Android updates and monthly security patches, which is great for Android devices but lags behind Apple’s more than five years of support for its phones.

S21 + has a triple camera system on the back, with 12MP ultra-wide, 12MP wide, and 64MP 2x “hybrid” telephoto camera, and a 10MP selfie camera on the front of the device.
The main wide-angle camera captures excellent images in a variety of different lighting conditions, and has improved low-light performance over previous iterations. The ultra-wide camera is also solid, but struggles a bit in moderate light levels, often losing detail and clarity. The 3x telephoto camera, while nice, pales in comparison to the competition and the S21 Ultra’s extended optical zoom – anything beyond 3x “hybrid zoom” starts to look like an oil painting.
By default, the camera shoots at 12MP on all three lenses, but the telephoto camera can be used to take photos at 64MP in good light with 1x magnification. Video capture is equally good in all three lenses, and two of them are capable of 4K at 60 frames per second. The 10-megapixel selfie camera is decent, but details can be a bit soft in low light.

Overall, the S21+ camera is good enough to keep up with most of the competition, but it still falls short of the class-leading camera on the S21 Ultra.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 + has an RRP of £949 (128 GB of storage) or £999 (256 GB of storage), but is often on sale at deep discounts.
In comparison, the Galaxy S21 costs £769, the Galaxy S21 Ultra costs £1,149, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra costs £1,179, the Galaxy Z Flip costs £1,300 and the Galaxy Z Fold 2 costs £1,799; The Oppo Find X3 Pro is £1,099, the OnePlus 8 Pro is £799 and the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max is £1,099.
The Best Samsung Phones Of 2023
Samsung Galaxy S21 + is a decent phone, but it is completely overshadowed by the best model, S21 Ultra, which is very similar in size.
The S21+ has a fantastic 120Hz screen covered in the latest tempered glass, great performance, premium construction, solid battery life and good software support, and should last at least four years from launch. However, it is a large phone and not as easy to maneuver as its narrower rivals. While it’s good, its camera lags far behind Samsung’s best cameras.
With an RRP of £949, the S21+ is a tough sell, but discounted to more like £750, it offers a lot of great value for the phone.
