The IQOO 9T 5G is undoubtedly one of the best looking smartphones under $50,000,000. The back of the phone has a dual tone black finish. The upper part of the rear panel is glossy with a carbon fiber design, while the iQOO logo sits at the bottom with a glossy and iQOO logo. It has a large square camera island with three sensors and LED flash. The phone has front and back glass protection and an aluminum frame. Finally, there’s some splash resistance and an IP52 rating for a very fast on-screen fingerprint reader.

Design-wise, the iQOO 9T opts to place the traditional power and volume buttons on the right side with the USB-C port and the SIM tray underneath. The pit camera cutout is in the center. IQOO 9T also features two stereo speakers for better sound processing and enhanced gaming experience. The overall design and build of the IQOO 9T is very much in line with most popular smartphones, but iQOO is not very clear about the quality of the glass used.
In terms of display, the iQOO 9T opts for a 6.78-inch E5 AMOLED panel with a thinner bezel. The display has a 120Hz refresh rate and a 360Hz touch sample, which goes up to 1200Hz in live mode. The screen supports HDR content on Netflix and YouTube. With a peak brightness of 1500 nits, the screen is visible under direct sunlight. There’s no LTPO technology here, but that doesn’t detract from the stunning display used on the iQOO 9T. The screen is great for entertainment and the high refresh rate makes everything you do on it a breeze.
As the first smartphone in India to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, performance is at the heart of the iQOO 9T. Along with the chip you get 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The new Plus version of Qualcomm’s flagship chip offers significantly less performance. However, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC has significant advantages in sustained performance and power efficiency. The IQOO 9T also has a large vapor chamber liquid cooling system and Vivo’s V1+ chip to boost frame rates in games through frame rate translation.
As far as continuous performance is concerned, the phone performs very well. While the IQOO 9T was cooler than I’ve experienced with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 smartphones, it did a lot with less effort. I ran Call of Duty: Mobile on max settings and Diablo Immortal on High at 60fps in a short while with the phone. The IQOO 9T held up well under pressure while gaming. The IQOO 9T scored a single-core score of 1401 and a multi-core score of 4192, which is a significant improvement over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip in the Vivo X80 Pro (Syn).

As for the cameras, the iQOO 9T has a 50 MP Samsung GN5 main sensor with f/1.88 aperture and OIS. The primary camera is paired with a 13 MP ultrawide unit with f/2.2 aperture and a 12 MP shooter with f/1.98 aperture and 2x optical zoom. The camera system is capable of 20x digital zoom and 5x hybrid zoom. On the video front, the iQOO 9T can record 4K video at up to 60fps, while the front-facing camera is limited to 1080p video at 30fps. Here are some samples from the iQOO 9T.
Longer shots aren’t as detailed as those taken with the main camera, but the light is good.

The IQOO 9T has a 4700 mAh battery, which is enough to last you a whole day of use. Although the battery does not leave at least 10 percent for the next day, the fast charge recharges the battery in a short time. The IQOO 9T comes with a 120W charger that can fully charge the device in about 20 minutes, which is handy if you’re in a pinch. The IQOO includes a 120W adapter in the box.
In terms of software, the phone runs Android 12 and Funtouch OS 12. iQOO also promises three years of Android updates and four years of security updates with the 9T. The overall interface is on par with the iQOO Z6 Pro, leaving you with a cleaner interface, albeit without some of the unwanted software. The IQOO 9T also has a game mode that can be used to boost frame rates and boost performance via the V1+ chip.
With a starting price of $49,999, the iQOO 9T isn’t cheap. But in my short experience with the phone, I’d say the 50K price tag is acceptable considering what’s on offer. The rear camera system here is one of the most versatile in the sub-50K segment. Then there’s Qualcomm’s incredibly fast and reliable chip, paired with a super-smooth display and ultra-fast charging support.

Of course, a wider camera would be better, but the iQOO 9T is a well-balanced smartphone with plenty of power for its name.
