The Samsung UR59C is the best budget 4K monitor that offers a precise and curved 32-inch VA panel. Image quality is excellent, with bold, accurate colors and sharp text after calibration. When testing in sRGB mode, we recorded a color error of 4.3dE with visible errors, but our calibration (see our recommended settings on page 1 of the review) brought it down to 0.9dE. So your web and games should look as intended. As expected from a VA panel, the UR59C offers excellent contrast, reaching an impressive 2,590.5:1 after calibration.
Ultra-wide screens usually offer more prominent lines, but despite the 16:9 aspect ratio, the curve of the 1500R UR59C is noticeable and useful, allowing us to expose more windows.
This monitor is not suitable for serious games, but casual gamers can handle it. The UR59C has a 60Hz refresh rate, 4ms response time, and no FreeSync or G-Sync to combat screen tearing. Response time and input lag are significantly better than the 75Hz monitor. But games didn’t look bad with the high contrast and pixel density of the 32-inch 4K display. So if you’re into games that aren’t graphically intensive or at lower settings and have a fast enough graphics card that can consistently hit 60 frames per second (fps), you’ll be able to enjoy blur-free gaming on the UR59C.

You’re paying a lot for a display that can squeeze 8.3 million pixels at a 144Hz refresh rate. The best 4K gaming monitor, the Asus TUF Gaming VG289Q, is a slower 60Hz but fights screen tearing with FreeSync. Yes, input lag is significantly higher than what you’d see on a 144Hz monitor, as is response time. But if you’re working with a budget graphics card and want your games to look accurate and realistic, this is a great option. SDR games looked very colorful on the VG289Q, and dynamic contrast provided subtle visual benefits such as extra dimension. However, screens on this site have better contrast.
HDR isn’t as great as you’ll find on full-array FALD or edge-array backlight displays, but shadows and highlights look more pronounced and we enjoyed the color boost.
If your best budget 4K monitor is in the 32-inch range, the LG 32UN500-W’s contrast ratio is key to image quality, and the 32UN500-W’s VA panel didn’t disappoint in our benchmarks, ranking 2nd. 353.9:1 out of the box. In addition, the main color gamut of the 32UN500-W is DCI-P3 and accurately covers the color space without visible errors.
Again, as a budget 4K monitor, the 32UN500-W isn’t winning any HDR awards. Color lacks the expected pop, and overall the picture doesn’t offer a significant boost over SDR.

But the 32UN500-W also has two 5-watt speakers and even AMD FreeSync to combat screen tearing during casual gaming. Overall, it delivers vibrant colors with deep blacks, making it perfect for your favorite 4K movies and the like.
The Dell S2721QS gets the title of the best 27-inch 4K monitor with a bright screen, reliable image information and useful extras. These bonus additions include the ability to connect multiple computers and view them simultaneously via picture-in-picture or picture-in-picture, and an optional program that makes it easy to calibrate the screen or arrange up to 6 windows in different preset layouts. . HDR is not suitable for this monitor. In this mode we picked up undersaturated color as well as visible black and white errors. And this monitor doesn’t have the speed or Adaptive-Sync (FreeSync or G-Sync) to make it a decent gaming monitor.
