These Galaxy A series phones have never surpassed their rivals in terms of specifications, but have still managed to stand out from the competition thanks to the refined experience they offer.

The Galaxy A51 is absolutely successful in terms of design. The phone is just the right size and shape and looks extremely attractive. Whether it’s the rectangular camera module, the slim dual-texture gradient design on the back, the slim 7.9mm profile or the circular hole punch – the little things add up to a big difference.
Even with the higher quality and more expensive Galaxy S10 Lite, we were drawn to the A51 simply because it is much lighter and much more comfortable to use.
The case is still made entirely of polycarbonate and not real glass or metal. We strongly advise you not to let this discourage you. Samsung includes a good quality transparent protective case in the scope of delivery. However, no protection is pre-installed on the display.
The edges around the screen are relatively thin and even. The circular notch is clean, but the selfie camera is surprisingly visible and doesn’t quite blend into the background. The notch is further away from the top, resulting in a wider/deeper status bar, and overall we quite like the effect this has.

The A51 still has a 3.5mm audio jack, a USB Type-C charging port and a dedicated card slot. The fingerprint sensor is located under the screen and is an optical type. It seems faster and more reliable than the one we had with the Galaxy A50.
Face unlock is a significant improvement, and with options like “Raise to wake” and “Double-tap to wake” enabled by default, triggering it is quite handy – if it doesn’t trigger naturally, of course.
The screen is once again great. AMOLED displays are no longer uncommon in the affordable and mid-price segment and are not exclusive to Samsung, but Samsung panels still have an advantage in terms of calibration and quality.
The Galaxy A51 has a razor-sharp and pleasant Full HD panel. You can choose between a “Natural” or “Vivid” color profile and also fine-tune the white point. OneUI 2.0 also has a fantastic dark mode and a great always-on display (which also pins some GIFs). Visibility outdoors in direct sunlight is also good.

The phone has a DRM-L1 certificate and supports streaming HD content on Netflix and Amazon Prime. Conclusion: When it comes to display quality, you get the best with the Galaxy A51.
Samsung did not mention the scratch-resistant coating on the Galaxy A51’s display. The company is offering a one-time screen replacement to consumers who purchase and activate the device on or before February 28th.
The chipset powering the Galaxy A51 remains the same Exynos 9611 as the Galaxy A50, but the base variant now starts with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
PUBG Mobile and other high-end games we tested were playable, but performance can’t keep up with the aggressive Snapdragon 7-series and 8-series chipsets available in the same budget.
Galaxy A51 5g Is Samsung’s Best Gaming Mid Ranger But There’s One Issue
If you don’t like games, you’ll probably be happy with day-to-day use, but we found that transitions in the interface weren’t always quick.
However, the refined One UI 2.0 software (based on Android 10) more than makes up for this. In our opinion, this is the most sophisticated custom UI compared to the alternatives you would get with the same budget. And that is one of the main reasons why you should consider buying the Galaxy A51 over the competition with spectacular specifications.
The Samsung Galaxy A51 gets full support for Samsung Pay. In comparison, the last-gen Galaxy A50 could also add credit and debit cards, but payments only worked on NFC-enabled PoS terminals.
The A51 supports both NFC and MST, meaning it works with almost every card reader available.
Should You Buy The Galaxy A51 In 2021?
The Galaxy A51 supports NFC payments but does not have MST. Since NFC is now supported on most POS terminals, you should still be well protected. Samsung Pay is something we use frequently and enjoy because it ensures we always have our cards with us.

The Samsung Galaxy A51 has four rear cameras and a 32MP selfie camera on the front. The rear camera quartet is powered by a 48MP main camera and also includes a 12MP wide-angle shooter, a 5MP macro camera and a 5MP depth sensor.
Cameras in phones in this price range are far from perfect and it’s important to remember that there are compromises to be made with every choice.
Samsung Galaxy A51: Another Success?
Indoors and under artificial light, the Galaxy A51 doesn’t give in when measured, but the details aren’t that great.
In low light, the images become even softer. The phone has a night mode that allows you to improve performance.
Phones these days rarely use battery backup by default, and the Galaxy A51 doesn’t disappoint when it comes to mileage. Our Galaxy A51’s 4,000 mAh battery comfortably lasts a whole day.
Fast charging is a bit too conservative. 15W charging isn’t fast enough these days, and for the asking price, Samsung’s 25W USB PD charger would have been better suited.

The Galaxy A51 is a very adorable phone. It’s slim, ergonomic and fabulous, has a remarkable screen and great software. Our biggest cons are the chipset, which is still inadequate from a gaming perspective, and the fast charging, which isn’t that fast.

The body of the Samsung Galaxy A51 has a similar design to the Galaxy A50. We have a full polycarbonate body that is quite light at just 172g and also quite thin at just 7.9mm thick. The glossy casing is prone to fingerprint detection, but on our Prism Crush Black device they aren’t particularly visible. The surface on the back is also a bit slippery, but luckily Samsung includes a case in the box.
