Last month, Samsung launched a new A-series smartphone in India – Galaxy A51. The A series of phones targets the mid-budget segment, just like this smartphone. Its price is 23,999 rupees, and its highlight is the quad camera array of 48 megapixels and a 4,000 mAh battery.

While the F15 is mostly design and lacks substance, the K20 Pro is a powerful device and the closest competitor to the Galaxy A51.
So does the Galaxy A51 prove to be a better choice than the K20 Pro? Are you a good daily driver? Is it a power-packed device, unlike its other A-series siblings? I used a smartphone for a week in my search to answer all these questions.
The Samsung Galaxy A51 has a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 405 ppi, a screen-to-body ratio of 87.4% and an aspect ratio of 20:9.
The vibrant colors and brightness, as well as the size, make the A51 very useful when consuming video on the go.

The Samsung Galaxy A51 doesn’t really have a striking design, at least at first glance. However, when you first pick it up, you realize how light the device is, despite the 4000 mAh battery under the hood. Its weight is 172 grams.
The smartphone is also very sleek, giving it a good grip even with that glossy back. The back of the Galaxy A51 looks like glass but feels like plastic (though not the cheap kind), and that’s because Samsung used a material they call “glass” for the back of the phone.

I used the phone for two weeks and carried it in my bag, which has keys, lipstick, chargers and my wallet, all of which can easily scratch a phone. However, the Galaxy A51 survived all this without a scratch on its back.
The stains, however, were like clothes to the device I was using. He wore them all the time. But the phone comes with a silicone case, which can save it from scratches and stains in the long run.
The version I reviewed comes in black, which is by far the most boring. There is a blue version that you should look for.
Also included in the box are a pair of headphones, which are made of plastic, and these definitely feel cheap. The sound quality of these headphones is also quite poor. Essentially, they’re just functional headphones that you can use as a backup.

The Samsung Galaxy A51 has a 48-megapixel primary camera with f/2.0 aperture, along with a 12-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide lens, a 5-megapixel f/2.4 wide-angle lens, and a 5-megapixel f/2.2 depth sensor.
In daylight, the smartphone takes excellent photos, with good color balance and exposure. The photos also retain a lot of natural detail. I also liked the edge detection in portrait mode on the rear camera. It’s really accurate and doesn’t blur the weirdly unruly baby hair around your face. Portrait photos look very natural.
Selfies, for which the camera uses a 32-megapixel lens, are also quite good, but with the beauty mode turned off as well, you’ll find that the phone softens the focus a bit. The pictures are not as sharp as what you get on the front camera.
The Galaxy A51 allows you to shoot video in 2160p resolution at 30fps and 1080p at up to 120fps. Video quality is also good, with good color balance and decent stabilization. However, this stabilization somehow doesn’t work well when shooting stills. You can’t get a clear picture if you are in a moving vehicle or if your hands are shaking.

When it gets dark, the A51 really gets tough. Selfies taken at night are grainy and show poor colors. The exposure is also bad, when you can hardly see any detail in the background. If you look at the photos in the Flickr album below, you’ll notice that in some night selfies you can barely make out the dark background from my hair.
The rear camera’s night vision is better than the selfie camera, but it’s still functional at best.
The Samsung Galaxy A51 is powered by a 10nm Exynos 9611 chipset with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
The phone’s performance is smooth for everyday tasks like multitasking between social media apps, watching video and sending emails. Even when gaming, the phone runs on medium settings and works fine most of the time, however I noticed frame drops a few times while gaming

Face recognition on the phone is not very good. It really is a matter of success or failure. I found the in-display fingerprint sensor to be a much better option. It works faster (as long as you keep your registered finger on it). The fingerprint sensor works even when your hands are a little wet.
The call quality is not very good on the device. Although sometimes I hear an echo, which sometimes makes it difficult to understand the caller.
The Galaxy A51 uses a 4,000 mAh battery. In the box, you get a 15W fast charger that takes your phone from 0 to 45 percent in about 40 minutes.
Fully charged, the phone easily lasts close to two days if you use it for simple daily tasks like using social networking apps, taking notes and answering calls.

However, if you watch too many videos, the battery life may drop for a day. It can get even shorter if you play graphics-intensive games for long periods of time.
The Galaxy A51 runs on One UI 2.0 based on Android 10 and comes with Samsung Knox for security. The phone also comes with Samsung Pay support, which lets you tap and pay in stores instead of carrying your credit and debit cards.
One UI 2.0 is a huge improvement over its first version. The phone has a more intuitive keyboard, with automatic recognition of multilingual input. he
The app has also been enhanced with a feature called ‘Handy Ticket’ which ‘intelligently’ detects the latest deals and events happening around you and rearranges your order based on its validity.

TL; DR: Buy it for everyday tasks, and if you like the look. Ignore if you’re looking for power
Samsung Galaxy A51 looks pretty good, especially in blue. It has a premium design. The phone also has a good day camera, but it struggles with night photography. The phone’s battery lasts a long time and charges reasonably quickly.
The phone works fine, allowing you to play games at medium settings, but the experience is not lag-free. The user interface of the Galaxy A51 is intuitive and fluid.
Compared to the competition, the A51 isn’t bad. The A51 loses out in the gaming department and its night camera isn’t as good as the Redmi K20 Pro’s, but whether you care or not is up to you.

Coming back to the question of whether it is better than the competition, the Galaxy A51 may only lose in the gaming department and slightly in terms of the night camera to the Redmi K20 Pro.
