It looks like the main screen, and it’s on a device that costs a third of the price.
Watching the trailer for the upcoming Ford v Ferrari, the side of Ken Miles’ blue and white Ford GT40 glistened under the Daytona lights with an intensity the Pixel 3a couldn’t replicate. With a full-screen brightness peak of 574 nits to Google’s 401 nits, the A50 isn’t far behind the S10’s 611-nit result. And because the A50’s panel is OLED, the glow of Ferrari’s yellow lights against the moonlit sky at Le Mans is striking in a way you won’t have on a similarly priced LCD phone.

The A50 scores high in color gamut coverage. 192.8% of the screen’s sRGB space again splits the difference between the Pixel 3a (182.3%) and the more expensive Galaxy S10 (208.2%). The Delta-E color accuracy test is less encouraging, as the A50’s score of 0.74 isn’t as good as the Pixel 3a’s 0.18 (numbers closer to zero are better).
For what it’s worth, things don’t look bad to my eyes, they just get full. But again, Samsung offers alternative profiles at more realistic settings than the standard Power calibration, so your mileage may vary.
If anyone’s camera can match Google’s in the mid-range, you’d think it would be Samsung. And the Galaxy A50’s spec sheet certainly backs up that claim – this phone delivers
