Original article, May 15, 2020 (10:00 AM ET): The Samsung Galaxy A series is very popular right now. In fact, Samsung’s mid-range Galaxy A51 was apparently the best-selling Android phone in the world in the first quarter of this year.
Now, Samsung has announced a new Galaxy A series phone without much fanfare – the Galaxy A21s. Samsung has revealed the official specifications of the phone in an infographic. It’s essentially an upgrade over the existing Galaxy A21, with a new camera setup, a bigger battery and more RAM.
The new phone gets a 6.5-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 1,600 x 720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 20:9. There is a hole-punch in the upper left corner of the screen that houses the 13MP selfie shooter. Both the display and the selfie camera are the same as the Galaxy A21.
The main quad camera setup gets an upgrade though. Instead of the 16MP lens found on the A21, there is a 48MP main sensor. The other three camera sensors remain the same with an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, a 2MP depth camera and another 2MP main camera. The visible fingerprint sensor is also located in the middle of the rear panel, just like the Galaxy A21.
Samsung Galaxy A21s Receives A Price Cut In India
The battery of the Galaxy A21s also increases compared to its peers. It has a 5,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging which is sure to last longer than the Galaxy A21 which has a 4,000mAh battery.
In terms of performance, the Galaxy A21s is powered by the Exynos 850 octa-core processor. It will be available in 3GB, 4GB, and 6GB RAM options, coupled with 32GB and 64GB of storage.
The Samsung Galaxy A21s phone will arrive in Spain on June 22, 2020, which strongly suggests that this is where the rest of Europe will see it. Additionally, the announced price in the Netherlands is €209 (~$227), so that will probably be close to the price in all other European countries.
In the UK, the Galaxy A21s starts at £179 (~$226). It will be available from June 19 in Black, White and Blue colors. UK customers will also receive a free six-month Spotify Premium subscription with the purchase of the phone.

Overall, the Galaxy A21s has a simple and seamless design. The display of the smartphone is a 6.5-inch LCD panel, with thin bezels all around. There is a small punch-hole on the right side of the screen, which houses the selfie camera. The dark blue color of our unit emits a rainbow-like glow when the light hits it at certain angles. Some colors available for this model are white and black, some are fancy. On the plastic back of the smartphone, next to the quad camera bump, we find the fingerprint sensor.
The A21s display is bright and vibrant; However, the colors are quite blue and the viewing angles are not good, but that is to be expected for a budget phone. The resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels is too low for a 6.5-inch screen. Given the price of the smartphone, we were hoping to see a better screen, but we’d say the current one is passable.
