Samsung Announces Bigger, Even Brighter 77 Inch Qd Oled Tv
There are times when bigger really is better, and this is one of them. While LCD TVs (now often called “LED”) don’t always adapt very well to very large sizes, OLED TVs tend to be very consistent across all sizes in the range. So it’s reasonable to expect this 77-inch version of the LG C2 to be just as great as the 65-inch model we first reviewed in May.
We won’t brag – you’ve seen the star ratings – the OLED77C2 is every bit as good as its smaller but still big brother, and of course the extra leg of the screen adds a lot of cinematic scale.
At the time of writing, the £3,699 / $3,500 / AU$9,599 77-inch C2 is available for £3,299 / $2,697 / AU$6,495.
Most potential buyers will be pitting the C2 against its G2 sibling, which will set you back £3999 / $3800 / AU$8995 for the 77-inch version. The G2 ups the ante with a brightness-enhancing heatsink and picture-frame-style design, but it doesn’t come with a stand, so even non-wall-mount users will have to shell out the extra budget.

The same OLED panel as the C2 and G2 is also found in a number of other TVs, including the UK-only Sony XR-77A80K (£3399 / $2798 / $7999) and Panasonic TX-77LZ2000B (£4299) and Philips. 77OLED807 (£3,999). Crucially, there are no QD-OLED TVs larger than 65 inches yet, although this is likely to change in 2023.
There are plenty of 75in LCD TVs that a 77in C2 buyer might want to consider, but the most obvious are the Samsung QE75QN90B (£2999 / $2600 / AU$4995) and the Sony XR-75X90K (£3999 / $3200 / AU$5995) .
While wall mounters will inevitably be drawn to the uniform thinness of the G2 ‘Gallery’, many will find the fact that much of the C2’s incredibly thin panel is unadorned by a plastic case on the back even more visually impressive. The included stand is more attractive and compact than previous C-series models, and LG has done an incredible job of reducing the weight of the set – if it weren’t so bulky, you could lift the TV and place it without needing a second pair. hands
When turned on, the image produced by the C2 has a thin black border and a faint silver border. With the lights off and against a dark wall, the TV disappears so all you see is the image.

In 2021, only LG’s G-series sets were labeled as “OLED Evo” models, but this year the C-series is getting in on the action. LG is keen to emphasize that “OLED Evo” refers to a combination of advanced hardware and processing, but the new, brighter OLED the panel is undeniably the most important part. The G2 has this panel reinforced with a heatsink, which allows for a brighter dial, but even without it, the C2 is significantly brighter than any C-series OLED before it.
Additionally, it should be noted that the 42-inch and 48-inch versions of the C2 cannot be as bright as the 55-inch models.
