However, if gaming is a priority, the Mi QLED 75 would not be my first recommendation due to both the lack of connectivity and the future.

The Mi QLED TV 75 is a 4K TV that takes a value-oriented approach to the big screen. Price Rs. 1, 19,999 in India, it beats other QLED sets by a considerable margin, and the only competitors in terms of pricing remain with conventional LCDs. The TV can be purchased via Mi.com and Flipkart and is available in Gray color only. Xiaomi has not announced any global launch plans.
The feature set includes the latest codecs and formats, including Dolby Vision, HDR 10, HDR 10+. Built on top of Android TV, it also offers access to a wide range of streaming services in addition to Patchwall.

The Mi QLED TV 75 takes a lot of inspiration from the 55-inch model and looks suitably premium. It is available in many large screen TVs, but it is still the most high-end Xiaomi TV. It’s clear that Xiaomi has paid a lot of attention to detail.
It starts with the general screen, where the frames are reasonably small. A dark silver bezel runs around the display with minimal markings. A subtle Mi logo is front and center, while a barely visible Xiaomi logo is on the right side of the bezel.
The main change this time is the TV stand. Gone are the side metal stands and Mi TV 75 gets a center mounted heavy metal stand which looks very nice. The TV is of course VESA compatible and Xiaomi will mount it on the wall for free if you need service.
The port selection is exactly the same as we saw on the 55-inch Mi Q1 and includes two HDMI 2.0 ports and one HDMI 2.1 port with eARC support. You’ll also find dual USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet, an audio jack, and an optical output. For older devices, Xiaomi has also included an RF port, so you should be able to connect a particularly old set-top box or a retro console from the Nintendo Entertainment System era. Finally, you will also find a composite entry. It’s fair to say that the port selection is strong.

On the wireless side, the TV includes both Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi, and it’s very good. I had no problems streaming high bitrate content from a local server and streaming services worked fine in 4K. Connectivity was good enough even when the TV was far away from my Wi-Fi router.
Overall, the Mi QLED 75-inch is premium enough to be used as a premium product. It’s certainly not as pretty as the equivalent from Sony or LG, but I doubt consumers will find anything to fault here.
The main differentiator of Mi TV is the Patchwall interface. It’s not as flashy as, say, WebOS on LG TVs, but it makes up for it with integration into a wide range of regional and international streaming services. Most importantly, the TV pulls in DTH or Direct to Home services and seamlessly integrates them into the interface.
What does this mean for consumers? Better recommendations, for example. Universal Search works on 25 streaming services and can also connect to wireless TV to generate recommendations and suggestions. It all works pretty well if you care about over-the-air TV, and is a nice value addition. Meanwhile, you can easily switch to the standard Android TV interface with the push of a button if you prefer the standard interface like I do. The set also has a built-in Chromecast function.

It’s for the good stuff. However, I ran into serious problems optimizing the software on the Mi QLED TV 75. Several times the interface was locked for a few seconds. Sometimes the sound bar also went silent and sometimes the remote didn’t respond at all. I’m told that many of these bugs will be fixed in a future update. However, there is no fixed timeline for when this update will be released.
Xiaomi has packed a lot of technology into the board and it shows. The 8-bit 4K panel is compatible with HDR 10, HDR 10+, HLG and Dolby Vision. Peak brightness is rated at 1000 nits, and 192 dimming zones allow for very effective lighting control. In QLED, the Q comes from a quantum dot layer that helps improve contrast levels. Yes, the panel has a frequency of 120 Hz – be careful.
Like many TVs, I wasn’t too impressed by the lack of color calibration. Spend a little time adjusting your picture settings and you’ll be able to get a lot more out of your TV. There is a wide range of picture settings available and reducing backlight levels, sharpness and just turning MEMC off can make a world of difference.
Contrast levels are excellent, and black levels are especially great thanks to the complete dimming of the array. I’m partial to OLED panels, but the Mi TV had a lot of weight to it, and I never felt like I was missing anything when watching movies like Legacy.

I noticed a few quirks about the game. First, although the panel itself is rated at 120Hz, the TV cannot accept an external 120Hz signal due to the decoder used in 4K. This means that next-gen consoles don’t have 120Hz support in 4K, making Xiaomi’s claims that this is a 120Hz TV quite disingenuous. Xiaomi claims the TV will support 1080p/120fps input via HDMI, but I couldn’t verify this as the Mi QLED TV 75 refused to detect my PlayStation 5 later in the testing period. Additionally, there’s no support for variable refresh rate ( VRR).
And that’s before we even get to the real question. Look at the speed issues or the decoder mentioned above, but I had serious trouble keeping two HDMI devices connected to the TV. The PlayStation 5 has a known issue that can cause flickering on some TVs, but lowering the bitrate almost always fixes this – it certainly did with my old LG 4K set.
However, until it was able to detect every time, the only solution for the Mi QLED TV 75 was to lower the resolution of the PlayStation to 1080p or, strangely, remove the Fire TV Stick I had in the other HDMI port. Removing the secondary flux rod solved the problem. I have contacted Xiaomi regarding these issues. The company says it’s investigating, but a solution had not been offered at the time of publication.
Xiaomi talked about the sound capabilities of its new TV. Using two tweeters and four woofers, it offers a total of 30 watts of power, plenty of volume. However, this volume doesn’t really translate into a well-separated audio phase. Even though the drivers were spread across the large TV, I found myself constantly adjusting the volume to hear the dialogue.

Xiaomi has a unified remote control across its portfolio of TVs and streaming devices, and that’s exactly what you get here. It would have been nice to see a more premium remote for the high-end TV position, but what’s here is functional.
There’s a directional pad, direct shortcuts for Netflix and Prime Video, and buttons you can drop into Patchwall or the Android TV interface.
