From the creative minds of the storytellers who wrote A Quiet Place, comes their newest thriller, 65. Scott Beck and Bryan Woods have made quite an impression in Hollywood. From A Quiet Place and its sequels to Haunt, The Boogeyman and 65, they became a “dream team” of co-writers/co-directors whose work tends to get approval. However, success tends to be a double-edged sword because after A Quiet Place was critically acclaimed and made a lot of money at the box office, expectations were naturally high to continue delivering quality films. Of course, they have been hit and miss since then with 65 more in the latter.

Pilot Mills (Adam Driver; Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens) takes an assignment on a space expedition to pay for his daughter’s medical treatment. However, during the mission, the spacecraft is hit by an asteroid and is destroyed after crash landing on an unknown planet. All the passengers on board died in the crash except for a young girl named Koa (Ariana Greenblatt; Avengers: Infinity War) whom Mills calls his daughter. When Mills discovers that there is a functional escape pod, they begin their journey to find it, however there are obstacles, in the form of prehistoric animals, in their way.
K/blu Ray Review:

At 65, since there is not a large amount of dialogue, he has to rely on his facial expressions and his physicality to tell different parts of the story. Greenblatt is a good choice to act opposite Driver as he has been in a number of productions and has been called one to watch in “young Hollywood”.
When it comes to the visuals and special effects in 65, Dolby Vision is a mixed blessing. The picture is excellent with clean lines and sharp details. Unfortunately, the high quality also shows the flaws in the CGI dinosaurs which can be quite distracting.
Fortunately, Dolby Atmos audio doesn’t suffer the same fate. The ambient sounds are layered and robust with dinosaur roars coming at the viewer from all directions. The dialogue also sounds solid and much of it sits comfortably through the front speakers. Although some of the sights and sounds are not the best, overall the 4K disc offers more visually and aurally than the accompanying Blu-ray disc.
The Combo Pack comes with 4K and Blu-ray Discs and digital downloads. There are only 30 minutes of extras including deleted scenes, Set in Stone – Creators, Future Of Yesterday – Creating the World of 65, Primordial Planet, and Final Showdown – Screenplay. None of the extras include interviews with the cast and what is offered is mostly fluff.
Best 4k Blu Rays
65 has all the elements to be a great film … strong script, good quality video and audio, excellent actors and proven director … but the film never seems to come together. It’s easy to tell that 65 is a Beck/Woods creation and production because it has as much silence as it has dialogue and ambient sounds. Unfortunately, once the key elements are identified, the story falls flat. Honestly, how many times in less than 90 minutes can an audience watch characters dodge and defend themselves against dinosaurs and a harsh landscape?
And if all that wasn’t enough, Mills and Koa must try to get to the escape pod and get off the planet before a huge asteroid crashes into it and destroys everything on Earth. The premise of life on other planets accidentally crashing into prehistoric Earth is both exciting and unimaginable.

Is a fun movie in any resolution, but on 4k Blu-ray with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ makes for a great home theater experience with super sharp resolution and amazing color depth. There is only one word for the entire collection of Game of Thrones seasons and episodes: incredible. The 4k image and audio quality of this HBO series is top notch, with Dolby Atmos reference quality that sometimes immerses you in the dark ages with Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen. In addition, The Complete Collection contains over 15 hours of bonus material. Say what you will about the finale, it doesn’t cancel out the 73 episodes that make up the TV series this season.
