Update 4k Hdr Blu Ray Movies Review – Films, Paramount has gone into the next generation with this new set containing all four films. All films received Dolby Vision transfers with Dolby TrueHD 7.1 audio tracks and were accompanied by hours of special features. While the new gloss won’t cover the mixed plots and all the films are released individually this week, the new box represents the most convenient way to collect all the silver screen adventures.
While time can sometimes be kind to movies that aren’t quite connected to the original release, that doesn’t seem to be the case here.
Update 4k Hdr Blu Ray Movies Review
Cycle, with a thoughtful, meaningful story leading up to humanity’s first encounter with the Vulcans. Not coincidentally, this week marks the release of the box set as well as the 40th anniversary of the film’s reference to “First Contact Day” on April 5, 2063. Aside from some dated special effects, the film remains excellent. thanks for this excellent write-up.
The Best 4k Blu Rays Of All Time
Series, which ultimately satisfies almost no one. It’s nice to see Kirk and Picard together, but it’s far from the classic story.
The picture quality of all four films is clearly superior to previous dark Blu-ray releases thanks to the upgrade to Dolby Vision and HDR10. This is most evident in the improved detail as well as improved contrast levels that show deep, dark blacks and vivid but not overly whites. This is especially useful for shady, dimly lit settings
, which was finally revealed and given a previously hidden depth of field. HDR colors pop throughout the series, especially during busy fight scenes during the film and outdoor scenes during the day
. Skin tones look natural to humans and eerie to other creatures, with Data’s skin looking almost pearly and Worf’s every Borg accessory wrinkled in precise detail.
Ps5 And 4k Uhd Blu Rays: Can Playstation 5 Play Them?
Unfortunately, Paramount chose not to provide Dolby Atmos audio tracks, opting instead for Dolby TrueHD 7.1 for all four films. However, the two added channels provide a nice upgrade over the previous Dolby TrueHD 5.1 option provided on previous Blu-rays. The added channel separation creates the most impressive and immersive soundscapes during battle scenes, but even quiet dialogue moments like most
Benefit from enhanced acoustic imaging that adds ambient depth. The dialogue is clearly defined and Jerry Goldsmith’s score is beautifully woven into the soundscape.
The bonus features appear to be entirely legacy releases, but are extensive for all movies. Included are several audio commentary tracks from the creative team, as well as a text commentary track from special effects gurus Michael and Denise Okuda. Other highlights are a four-part featurette on Brent Spiner as Data, a look at the effects of Industrial Light and Magic, Trek roundtable talks, deleted scenes and script archives. This 4K box set version seems long overdue, but the superior technical results show it was worth the wait. If you must own all of these movies, the new box set is clearly the best option, but if you want to pick and choose just your favorites, Paramount has you covered with their contemporary singles. which is a 4K movie release. count

Ok… we have a quick update here at The Bits for you today as I started a family this weekend for the first time since the pandemic.
The big thing we have for you this afternoon is of course this: I’ve posted our in-depth review of the Indiana Jones: 4-Movie collection in 4K Ultra HD from Paramount Home Entertainment and Lucasfilm. The refreshed 4K images in the first three films are impressive, while the fourth film at least benefits from some HDR and a few 4K scan shots from the camera negative here and there (non-VFX shots). Meanwhile, the new Ben Burtt Dolby Atmos mixes are show-worthy across the board.
There are no new extras in the set and the packaging is terrible, but the picture and sound upgrade is so significant that most fans are willing to overlook it. The set is definitely not to be missed and you can find all the detailed details here in our review. [Read here…]
K/blu Ray Review: James Cameron’s
Today we also have a new Blu-ray review from Dennis today, who looks at his thoughts on Irvin Pitchel’s They Won’t Believe Me (1947) from the Warner Archive collection.
And Stephen was also involved with his interpretation of Phillipe de Broca’s Le Magnifique (1973), as recently released on Blu-ray by Kino Lorber Studio Classics.
In today’s news announcement, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has officially set Labyrinth to be re-released in 4K Ultra HD on 8/17 as a new 35th Anniversary Edition, with Dolby Vision HDR this time (the previous 4K version was only HDR10) and something new. extras, including a Deleted and Alternate Scenes Oubliette (featuring over 25 minutes of never-before-seen deleted and alternate scenes with commentary by Brian Henson) and Sarah’s Screen Tests (a collection of rare, original screencasts for her role Sarah with Molly Ringwald, Trini Alvarado, Tracey Gold, Claudia Wells, Jill Schoelen, Maddie Corman and Danielle von Zerneck). Additionally, all previous extras will be included and all packaged in a new 28-page Digibook with rare photos and notes. You can check out the cover below…

AMC, Sundance and Shudder will release A Discovery of Witches: Season 2 on Blu-ray and DVD on 8/17.
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and DC will release Pennyworth: The Complete Second Season on Blu-ray and DVD on 7/13.
Film Detective releases Lesley Selander’s Flight to Mars (1951) on Blu-ray and DVD 7/20. The fact that 7/20 is the anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing is not lost on us. Produced by Walter Mirisch, the film was remastered in 4K from the original 35mm Cinecolor split negative by the excellent Archives team at Paramount Pictures. The disc includes a pair of new documentary shorts from Ballyhoo Motion Pictures (Mirisch: From Bomba to Body Snatchers and Interstellar Travelogues: Cinema’s First Space Race) and more.
What Is 4k Blu Ray?
It hasn’t been officially announced yet, but Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is gearing up to unveil the 4K Ultra HD release of Rian Johnson’s Looper on 7/13. All bonus features are reportedly in full 4K resolution. Extras include audio commentary with Rian Johnson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Emily Blunt, 5 featurettes (Looper: From the Beginning, Scoring Looper, The Science of Time Travel, The Two Joes, and New Future, Old School), 21 deleted scenes with commentary by Rian Johnson and Noah Segan, and the Looper Animated Trailer. We’ll post the Amazon link and cover the artwork once it’s official.
And don’t forget that Sony’s unique SKU movie Dr. Stanley Kubrick’s Strangelove in 4K Ultra HD will travel 6/7.
Okay, one last item today… I’m sure you all saw our updated post on Wednesday about Paramount’s official comment on the Star Trek I-IV 4K release rumors that came out early that morning Their official announcement basically has removed the Amazon France listing and they have “no news to announce at this time”. Now, two and a half decades of experience in this industry tells me that if this 4K release was completely fake, the studio would have quickly denied it. So my gut… as well as information from additional sources… tells me that this release is real, but the studio isn’t ready to officially announce it yet. Note that the listed 9/8 street date is no coincidence—that’s the anniversary of the original broadcast of Star Trek: The Original Series. I’m guessing the studio will probably announce this release before the official 55th Anniversary Creation Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas (8/11-15) so they can really talk about it at the event. Until then…my advice is to all stay calm and stay tuned for more news on this in the coming weeks and months.
