The Uku 4G Hub is a 4G router sold by Uku in the UK, combined with a data system. The device is the ZTE MF286D Wi-Fi router.

At this point, the router will take a minute or two to set itself up – you can leave it alone while it does so. You should see the status lights come on – once they all turn blue like the last image below, you’re ready to go online.
To get the best 4G signal, try placing the router in a high place, near a window, to have a good line of sight to the nearest 4G mast. A floor-to-ceiling window is usually a good choice of position.

However, this is generally optional, and not necessary in most cases. You can still get a good signal and download speed with the 4G Hub’s internal antenna.

Once we set up the 4G Hub network, we tested it in three different locations around the house, to find the location with the best 4G signal.

Once we found the best location, we ran a speed test to determine the device’s performance, both on Ethernet and Wi-Fi.

In our opinion, the speed of the 4G Hub is very good. Although we didn’t see speeds as fast as the speed tests above, we never dropped below 12-15 Mbps on Wi-Fi, and we usually got download speeds of 30-50 Mbps of Ethernet connections.

Using a wired connection, we got fast downloads on a consistent basis, even at night.
We should note, we live in an area with a very good 4G signal, near a 4G mast. You may not see speeds as fast as the range we were able to achieve with your 4G Triple Hub.

One issue with using 4G or 5G networks to get online at home is that their latency is often worse than what you get with a fixed line. This means you may experience more lag than normal when playing online games.
To test this, we played some ping-sensitive games like Rocket League and Battlefield 2042, with the 4G Hub connected to a computer with an Ethernet cable.
In most games, we have a ping of about 20-30ms when connected to nearby servers. We didn’t notice any major lag or interference in our testing.

It is important to note however, that your latency may be higher using a 4G router than if you were using a regular internet connection. And to get the best ping, we recommend always using an Ethernet cable to connect your computer or console to the router, otherwise your latency will be lower and consistency.
Given the speed offered by the three 4G Hubs, and the ease of setting up this device, we believe this router is great value for money.
