All three offer an average download speed of 100Mbits/sec and it’s not known for data speeds of up to 400Mbits/sec. They’re based on the brand’s 5GEE Wi-Fi router, with 802.11ax/Wi-Fi 6 connectivity and support for up to 64 devices within a 30-meter range, with only one Gigabit Ethernet port being a serious limitation. EE has addressed one of our biggest criticisms by offering unlimited 5G broadband for a reasonable £50/m with a 24-month contract and £100 upfront fee. This is lower than EE charging 100GB. If that’s still too expensive, 40GB and 100GB plans are available for £20 or £40/mth.

5G is excellent with 4K streaming and huge downloads and EE has the speed to match. In the latest RootMetrics statistics, all 16 cities tested by RootMetrics posted an average download speed of 100Mbits/sec, not to mention the fastest speeds in six of them. It couldn’t match Three or Vodafone’s fastest peak speeds in London, but it still hit 422.6Mbits/sec. EE wins in consistent and widespread availability with over 50% in 11 of the 16 cities and 65% in Nottingham and Birmingham. Like all three, EE has invested heavily in 5G spectrum for better coverage and performance in the future.
It’s a premium option and in some areas faster than Three, O2 or Vodafone, but EE offers better 5G broadband in more places than anyone else and is definitely worth checking out.
