Finding the best SIM-only deals can be a confusing process, as each mobile network promises a range of data limits and extra features. But don’t worry, we’re here to help.

The Prisma 2020 Statement: An Updated Guideline For Reporting Systematic Reviews

To help you find the best SIM deal for your needs, we’ve rounded up the four best in the following categories: best overall, best with unlimited data, best budget option and best deal if you need speed. .

This is not an exhaustive list, but rather a quartet of offerings that the experienced SIM sommeliers at Expert Reviews are happy to recommend after calculating their total costs and comparing them to the competition. Below each offer you will also find a table with the most important details to make your life easier.

Right now Smarty, the UK’s leading network, is offering 100GB of 5G data for just £12 a month with a one-month subscription. This means you get a lot of data at an affordable price and you don’t have to commit to a long contract. That’s why it’s our favorite SIM deal right now – what’s not to love?

This Smarty SIM deal is really good value – you can currently get 100GB of 5G data for just £12 a month on a rolling monthly contract. But be sure to jump in as soon as possible, because our favorite mobile network’s offer won’t be available for long.

ID Mobile SIM deals really don’t get any better than this: if you roam fast, you can get unlimited 5G data for £8 a month for the first six months of a two-year contract. The price comes to a still incredible £16/month, saving you a tasty £48 overall. It’s an offering that massively undercuts the competition and you don’t compromise on quality – we rated iD Mobile four out of five stars in our latest detailed review. Just click “Go to Cart” when you click on the offer to see the special prices.

As we explain below, we’re big fans of the combination of Voxi’s four-star low prices and unlimited social media scrolling. This double data deal is no exception: for £10 a month on a rolling contract, you get 30GB of 5G data (previously 15GB) and unlimited use of Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram. This makes it a great option if you’re watching the pennies.

Even better, Voxi is currently offering double the data on its £15-a-month SIM card, which now gives you 60GB of data and unlimited video streaming. If you have some extra cash to spend and think you’ll be using a lot of data, be sure to grab this double data plan while it’s still available.

Four stars Three is now one of the fastest mobile networks in the UK, especially when it comes to 5G. That makes this deal, which offers 120GB for just £12 a month on a two-year contract, incredibly good value if you need speed. In addition, the mobile network now also has the widest 5G coverage in the UK.

If customer service is key to you, you’ll love this SIM-only deal from Sky Mobile. The network won the award for best customer service at the last Mobile Network Awards, meaning you’ll always have the best support when you need it. This particular deal lets you get 100GB of data, which should be plenty for most people, for just £20 a month for a twelve-month plan. You usually only get 40GB with this plan, so make sure you rack up your savings before they run out.

When we looked at last year’s three Mobile Network Awards, we wondered if the network would bounce back when 5G returns. Twelve months later, and the Triple Renaissance begins to happen.

Best Mobile Wi Fi Routers 2023: Mobile Hotspot Buying Guide

It is now the leader in 5G coverage and is starting to make progress in performance, although it still faces strong competition from Vodafone and, in particular, the US. Interestingly, the network is said to be in early talks to merge with Vodafone, although judging by the glacial pace at which these things move, it’s unlikely to see any impact for a year or more.

Is this reflected in the top results in this year’s Expert Reviews Mobile Network Awards survey? Well, Three still has some work to do on customer service, but its value scores are improving. Perhaps most critically, only 67% of the three subscribers we spoke to would recommend the network to a friend; a better score than Virgin Mobile (61%) and Vodafone (65.5%), but well behind the pace of Smarty (92%), Voxi (almost 90%) and Lebara (95%).

For a while, one of Three’s big selling points was that it offered the latest phones for less than the other big networks. It was also one of the best networks for unlimited data deals and allowed you to use your data abroad at no extra cost.

The first two points are still true today to some extent. Buy an iPhone 14 from Three and you can get it for £49 a month for 24 months, plus £30, albeit with 1GB of data. Increase the data allowance to a more realistic 100GB and the price rises to £61 a month plus £30, at which point you can even go the extra mile and pay £63 a month for unlimited data. It’s not a bad price, especially when £63 in EE only means 125GB, but you can get the same phone and unlimited data for £42 a month on iD Mobile, although you’ll have to pay an upfront fee of £99.

It’s a little different with the Samsung Galaxy S22, which costs £47/month plus £30 for 100GB, but would cost £59/month with 125GB in the US. However, iD Mobile is still cheaper with a £33/month 100GB data contract with an upfront fee of £29.

What about SIM-only contracts? These start at £8/month for a fairly paltry 1GB contract, with a 24-month contract, but 50% off for the first six months. There’s no discount on a 12-month contract and the price rises by £1. You’ll get better deals for 12GB or 30GB at £12/month and £14/month respectively, with the same terms, except each has a price increase of £2 if you sign up for just one year.

There was a time when Three’s Advanced Unlimited plan was arguably the best SIM-only deal out there and at £24 a month for 24 months, half price for the first six months, it’s still a lot cheaper than comparable plans. EE, O2, Giffgaff or Vodafone. However, iD Mobile and Smarty have unlimited offers that are even cheaper, so Three no longer has that niche.

The Best Gaming Phones 2023

Looking at our survey data, Tres doesn’t stand out when it comes to changing money. It is true that more than a third of customers say they are very satisfied with the network’s value for money, while almost half are fairly satisfied, but this is still only 84% of the total, while the likes of iD Mobile, Tesco Mobile, etc. Smarty, Voxi and Lebara vote in the nineties.

All three seem to be struggling with customer service. Almost 27% of the users we surveyed are very satisfied and another 50% fairly satisfied, but it still lags behind the rest of the networks in our survey, with the exception of iD Mobile, Lebara, Virgin Mobile and Vodafone.

Ofcom’s latest customer service and satisfaction report is also critical of Three. With a network score of 86%, it scored below average at 91% for overall customer satisfaction. It also has the highest proportion of customers with complaints (16%) and more than the average number of complaints to Ofcom per 100,000 subscribers. Something is clearly wrong here and Tres should look into fixing it
