Well, today’s update on The Bits will be quick, because yesterday’s post apparently caused a stir on the Interwebs. It was also my birthday yesterday and I was working most of the time, so I’m going to take a break this afternoon.
The New Mutants 4k Steelbook
First, on Tuesday night, we posted Tim’s detailed review of the sprawling 2-piece and Scream Factory’s excellent new 12-movie/16-disc Friday the 13th: Deluxe Edition Blu-ray Boxset. ). It’s as awesome as you could hope for. Hats off to Scream and everyone involved in this series. This includes our longtime friend Peter Bracke, as well as our very own Tim Salmons, who was featured in the set’s inside instruction booklet for contributing rare trailers and TV spots. He’s too modest to mention it, but here you go. This set is great, review it here, we hope you like it!
The New Mutants’ Finally Coming Home To 4k Ultra Hd, Blu Ray And Digital In November

In today’s announcement, Walt Disney Home Entertainment and Twentieth Century Studios have released Josh Boone’s The New Mutants on Blu-ray, DVD and 4K Ultra HD on November 17 . The 4K disc includes HDR10 High Dynamic Range and Dolby Atmos audio. You can see the cover on the upper left.
Additionally, RLJ Entertainment has set genre titles 2067 and Monstrum to be released on Blu-ray and DVD on November 17.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. We’ve heard rumors that Home Entertainment will soon release Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet” on Blu-ray, DVD, 4K UHD, and digital, possibly in December. We will release details as soon as the official launch.
Now…all SKUs of Warner’s new The Lord of the Rings: The Movie Trilogy and The Hobbit: The Movie Trilogy are available for pre-order in 4K on Amazon.com and elsewhere. It seems that in addition to the trilogy set and Best Buy pen, there is also a widely released gift set version of The Lord of the Rings: The Movie Trilogy that comes with a copy of The Lord of the Rings. We suspect there will be a Hobbit gift set at some point, but not until next year.

In other news, today our friends at ClassicFlix have launched a new IndieGoGo campaign to fund restoration of the classic Our Gang/Little Rascals short. The company has licensed all 80 original Hal Roach sound shorts, but they need restoration. So our goal is to do just that and release the unedited, fully restored and remastered content on Blu-ray and DVD.
