T Mobile Releases June Security Patch For Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge

However, Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge owners on T-Mobile should see the update notification soon to update their device to the latest security patch.

Update: While this seems like an innocuous update, it turns out that those upgrading to T-Mobile’s latest firmware can also take advantage of the faster data rates, as a pair of Galaxy devices are the first to support 4×4 MIMO and DL-256QAM/UL- technology 64QAM. Four by four Multiple Input Multiple Output (4×4 MIMO) is a specification that uses four antennas on devices and cell towers to increase LTE data speed and range. QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) download and upload speeds depend on the bandwidth capabilities of the phone’s radio, with 256-bit DL and 64-bit UL currently the highest. Let us know in the comments if you notice a difference in LTE speed after updating your phone.

The beta is expected to run until mid-December. The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, which are over 2 years old, have been updated to Android 8 Oreo on Verizon Wireless, AT&T, and Sprint.
