T Mobile Galaxy S7 Edge Update – The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge on T-Mobile are now updated with the latest levels of Android security.
T-Mobile has released the November security patch for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. Galaxy S7 (SM-G930T) is updated to software version G930TUVU4APK1 and Galaxy S7 Edge (SM-G935T) is upgraded to software version G935TUVU4APK1.

The security patch certainly raises the level of protection on Galaxy devices, but there’s no announcement yet indicating which Android vulnerabilities it’s targeted; this information should be available immediately.

However, Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge owners on T-Mobile should see the update notification soon to update their device to the latest security patch.
Update: While this seems like an innocuous update, it turns out that those upgrading to T-Mobile’s latest firmware can also take advantage of the faster data rates, as a pair of Galaxy devices are the first to support 4×4 MIMO and DL-256QAM/UL- technology 64QAM. Four by four Multiple Input Multiple Output (4×4 MIMO) is a specification that uses four antennas on devices and cell towers to increase LTE data speed and range. QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) download and upload speeds depend on the bandwidth capabilities of the phone’s radio, with 256-bit DL and 64-bit UL currently the highest. In other update news, Samsung has just launched the Android Nougat beta program for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge in the UK. The beta testing program, which you can register for through the Galaxy Beta Testing program on the Galaxy Store, allows certain users to upgrade to an early version of Android Nougat to test the software and provide feedback. The beta is expected to run until mid-December. The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, which are over 2 years old, have been updated to Android 8 Oreo on Verizon Wireless, AT&T, and Sprint. This leaves T-Mobile as the only major carrier in the US not releasing Oreo for the Galaxy S7 series. Luckily, starting today, some T-Mo Galaxy S7 and S7 edge owners are starting to receive the long-awaited Oreo update. According to a T-Mobile spokesperson, all users should receive the update by the end of the week.
The Android Oreo update for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge weighs in at around 1.7GB. In addition to the exclusive features that Google included in Oreo, this new software version includes Samsung’s own Experience 9.0 user interface (which you may have seen on the Galaxy S9 family). Additionally, the update provides support for GSMA Universal Profile 1.0, which allows file transfers up to 100 MB using messages.
