The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is a quantum leap better than the original Fold. And it should have a high price. The front screen is much larger, 5G comes as standard, and the ugly notch inside is gone. Also, this folding design is more durable than the first.
With the new Flexible Mode, Samsung has added additional innovations to make this phone/tablet hybrid even more versatile. Additionally, multitasking is better suited for running up to three apps at once, and some apps have a dual-pane view to increase productivity.
The Galaxy Z Fold 2’s cameras aren’t as advanced as the Galaxy S21 Ultra’s (especially the zoom) and its design is pretty solid. Additionally, Samsung is reportedly preparing a sequel, the Galaxy Z Fold 3, for its August launch that could offer S Pen support along with other updates.

But if you’re looking for a foldable phone right now, the Z Fold 2 does a great job of justifying Samsung’s high price. No wonder we named it the best foldable phone in our 2021 Tom’s Guide Awards for phones.
The release date of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is September 18, 2020. It is available on several carriers as it is unlocked.
When it first came out, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 cost $1,999 for 256GB of storage and 12GB of RAM. Please note that the microSD card slot is not included and no other capacity is available. These days, after permanently lowering the price by $200, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is selling for $1,799 (or less with a Samsung promo code). This could be a sign that Samsung is trying to sell its stock ahead of the expected Galaxy Z Fold 3 launch later this year.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 Review
If you’re looking for Galaxy Z Fold 2 deals, the phone has dropped to $999. Therefore, it can be profitable to search for the sale of this foldable phone. Galaxy Z Fold 2 is available and unlocked on all major carriers including AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile (Sprint).

At 6.2 x 2.6 x 0.66 inches when closed and 6.2 x 5 x 0.27 inches when open, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is slightly shorter but wider than its predecessor. Also, the Z Fold 2 is heavier at 9.9 ounces compared to the 9.48 ounces of the original. After a few minutes of using the phone and texting, I definitely felt some tension.
Another bummer: The Galaxy Z Fold 2 isn’t water resistant, so you can’t get wet like with other flagship phones.
Besides being larger, the 7.6-inch home screen of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 has a 120Hz refresh rate, so you should enjoy smooth scrolling and overall performance compared to the 60Hz on the Galaxy Fold. In addition, since the panel is responsive, it is smart enough to slow down or accelerate according to the content on the screen.
The display on the cover of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 doesn’t have a 120Hz refresh rate, but it’s still much better than the first Fold. This 6.2-inch OLED screen is big enough to handle almost any task, and you can instantly resume what you were doing on the home screen when you turn on the device.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 Review: A Step Closer
Note that the Z Fold 2’s screen aspect ratio is narrower than most phones, so typing can be a bit cramped.
One of our complaints about the Galaxy Fold was that many apps in tablet mode felt like just magnified phone apps. However, Samsung makes up for this with the Galaxy Z Fold 2.
For example, in Gmail I could see my messages on the left and the body of the emails on the right. And on Slack, my contacts were on the left and messages were on the right. You have to flip the Galaxy Z Fold 2’s screen to landscape mode to see these changes, but that makes a huge difference in performance. This makes the Galaxy Z Fold 2 feel more like a laptop. Samsung also promises an optimized browsing experience on Microsoft Office and YouTube.
Galaxy Z Fold 2’s flex mode gives this foldable phone even more versatility. The idea is that you can have controls or settings on one side of the screen and content on the other for maximum performance.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 Long Term Review
I really enjoyed using Google Duo in flex mode, as it allows you to put your phone in a laptop-like position and have a video call with another person without having to hold the device in your hand. This is exactly what I wished my iPhone could do.
Samsung says Flex Mode is supported by many Samsung apps, including Camera, Video Call, Gallery, Video Player, Clock and Calendar. Supports Flexible Mode with Google, YouTube and Google Duo. Samsung is also working with third-party developers to create apps optimized for Flexible Mode.
Another major upgrade for the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is multitasking. With the enhanced Multi-Active Window feature, you can open up to three apps at the same time and quickly create presets called app pairs that you launch with a single tap.
I tried it with Slack, Twitter and Spotify, as well as YouTube, Photos and Messages, and having three apps running at the same time was really cool. You can also quickly change the layout with a single tap or drag and drop an app from the same window. another.

Even better, you can drag and drop content from one window to another. I had no problems attaching a photo from the Gallery app to an outgoing message.
