Each model of the standard Galaxy Watch 6 will thus cost about 30 euros more than the previous generation. But depending on the size you choose, the Classic will be the same or smaller than the Watch 5 Pro.
There is no official news on when the Galaxy Watch 6 will be announced. But it’s almost a dead cert, we’ll see at Samsung Unpacked scheduled for July 26, 2023.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 has been revealed using leaked images courtesy of WinFuture and features a similar design to its predecessor, the Watch 5.
The Watch 6 (top) comes in 40mm and 44mm case sizes, but the Watch 6 Classic (bottom) offers 43mm and 47mm versions while retaining the rotating bezel control system.
All models have an improved screen-to-body ratio for larger AMOLED displays. The design includes a slightly different sensor layout and new quick release straps.

The Watch 6 will likely feature an updated Exynos W930 chipset, which promises faster speed without better efficiency. Although the battery size may increase, no significant increase in battery life is expected.
Observant tech experts have noted that Samsung has received certification for the EB-BR935ABY and EB-BR945ABY batteries, which are said to be available for the 40mm and 44mm Galaxy Watch 6 models.
This has been revealed by a new leak which reveals that the Galaxy Watch 6 40mm/Watch 6 Classic 43mm will apparently get a 300mAh battery and the Galaxy Watch 6 45mm/Watch 6 Classic 47mm will get a 425mAh battery.
These are only slightly larger than the Watch 5, so don’t expect too much of a battery life explosion this year. The leak points to a 20% improvement, but much of that is swallowed up by the larger display and overclocked processor.

It was an integral part of the old Samsung Gear line and has achieved cult status among smartwatch fans.
Now, a well-connected YouTuber has revealed that it might make a comeback – but only for the more expensive Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.
Leaker Ice Universe has released another detail of the display on the Galaxy Watch 6, suggesting that Samsung will reduce the size of the bezel (thus increasing the size of the display). This was also confirmed by the latest leaks.

It is not clear whether such a change would also apply to the expected Galaxy Watch 6 Pro/Classic, but at least for the standard version of the next-gen watch, the display will jump from 1.4 inches to 1.47 inches for the larger 45mm version.
This appears to have an edge-to-edge effect on the display, similar to what we’ve seen on recent Apple Watch devices.
Samsung has officially announced that One UI 5 Watch will launch later this year and announced a number of upgrades coming to compatible Galaxy Watch devices.
The Galaxy Watch 6 is not directly mentioned in Samsung’s blog post, although the full rollout of the next One UI update usually coincides with the launch of new hardware.
How Samsung Is Addressing The Biggest Smartwatch Concern
An entry in the Bluetooth SIG database created by Samsung seems to indicate that the Galaxy Watch 6 series will feature the next-generation Exynos W930 chipset.
While the unreleased wearable processor should bring some performance boosts, the fact that it shares a model number with the Galaxy Watch 5’s Exynos W920 chip could also mean that it’s more of an iterative platform update.
Rumor has it that the clock speed will be higher, but the production processes remain the same. Significant energy efficiency savings are therefore unlikely to be achieved.
Spotting the differences between the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 would be a challenge for even the sharpest smartwatch fanatic – and we’re hoping for some bolder design changes in the sixth-generation models.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Release Date: When Is The Smartwatch Coming?
Of course, it’s not necessarily a bad thing to stick with the same design language, but even a slow device like the Apple Watch tends to offer meaningful design changes for each generation. We didn’t experience anything like that with the standard Galaxy Watch 5.
Even the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro has its design issues. Despite being billed as a more outdoor-ready model, it doesn’t offer as rugged a design as one might expect, and that feels like a bit of a missed opportunity.
While this pair could look a little more imaginative, we think Samsung made a few design changes right off the bat with the Watch 5.
Case sizes are now evenly split between 40mm, 44mm, and 45mm options, and the redesigned Pro model is now at least much more unisex-oriented than the old Galaxy Watch 4 Classic option was.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Review With Pros And Cons
While we can accept that companies have their reasons for tightly tying smartwatch usage to a specific smartphone, making Samsung-only features available through the Galaxy Watch still feels like a misstep by Samsung and Google.
Some of these features can be bypassed, but blocking Health Monitor from other Android users is a pretty big omission, as it offers access to blood pressure monitoring and EKG readings.
We’ve always been big fans of how Samsung tracks and provides fitness metrics, and the health features have generally been the most advanced in the business. However, the sports viewing experience has remained incredibly mediocre over the last few generations.
We thought things might have improved with the launch of the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, but aside from the addition of maps, there are still some relatively crippling issues that limit the experience.
Samsung Galaxy Watch5 Review: A Solid Android Watch
During testing, we experienced a fair amount of issues with GPS distance tracking and numerous inconsistencies with the heart rate monitor.
The native software isn’t really that bad, and it still includes some nice extras like sweat tracking and rehydration recommendations, but we’re hoping the Galaxy Watch 6 gets a little closer to Garmin and Apple’s performance on sports tracking basics.
While the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro manages to get a respectable two to three days of battery life while still using most features, both the 44mm and 40mm Galaxy Watch 5 often struggle to survive the second day.
That’s still a step up from what you’d expect from, say, the Google Pixel Watch, which is aiming for around 24 hours, but we’re really hoping Samsung’s 40-hour estimate jumps to 50 or 60 hours with the Galaxy Watch 6.

That should comfortably last you two full days, even when you’re using GPS tracking, sleep tracking, and some of those health features.
We haven’t heard any rumors about the Galaxy Watch 6’s processor, but we do know that the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5+ chip, which will make its way into countless Wear OS watches in 2023, should also bring big battery improvements.
If that’s the case, then Samsung still has a lot of work to do between generations to keep up with them.
Samsung narrowly beat Apple to offer a temperature sensor in the Galaxy Watch 5 range, but it’s fair to say that it hasn’t yet proven itself as a transformative feature.

While Apple’s equivalent included menstrual cycle tracking from the start, Samsung’s sensor – which also came out after launch – was initially only used to track patterns at rest. It’s not something you can check on the spot, or actually access in the Samsung Health app to try to interpret the data for yourself, and that threw us off a bit.
As we originally wished for more functionality for the temperature sensor, Samsung has actually updated the Galaxy Watch 5 and their temperature sensor to track fertility, which is an unexpected but welcome addition.
Samsung has partnered with FDA-approved Natural Cycles, which means we’ll see it on the Galaxy Watch 6. We’ve yet to test it, so hopefully it lives up to expectations.
