Samsung Galaxy Watch 4g Lte – The Samsung Galaxy Watch has been one of our favorite wearables since we reviewed it last year. It has a beautiful design, useful rotating bezel and impressive battery life for the kind of functionality it offers. We felt a moment of déjà vu when we opened the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4G, which the company recently sent us to review. Samsung launched the 4G version of the Galaxy Watch in India only in October this year, though the rest of the world got its hands on the non-LTE model in early 2018. At that time, e-SIM was not widely available. is available in India, which may cause Samsung to postpone the launch. Now that the Galaxy Watch 4G is fully functional in India, should you buy one? We review the Galaxy Watch 4G to find out.

Since the Galaxy Watch 4G is just a variant of the Galaxy Watch, its design is similar to the unit we’ve already reviewed, and you can read more about it here. It’s still one of the best designed watches we’ve reviewed. This version, the Galaxy Watch 4G, also comes in two sizes: 42mm and 46mm. If you choose the small you can choose between black and rose gold, while the large size is only available in silver. We have the 46mm version for this review.

We still find the scroll pad useful for navigating through menus, and we like its clicky design. This helps us know the amount of input we’ve dialed. The 1.3-inch AMOLED display is bezel-less and has Corning Gorilla Glass DX+ to help prevent scratches. We liked the display because it was sharp and bright enough to see outdoors.

There are two buttons on the right side of the device, both with a textured pattern that allows you to distinguish them. The top is the back button, and the second is the home button. Below the home button is a microphone that can be used to make calls on the watch. There is only one speaker on the left side of the watch.

Below you’ll find hardware for the heart rate sensor and wireless charging. The wireless charger in the box remains the same as the one we use on the Galaxy Watch. It still has a micro-USB port, but an update to USB Type-C would have been appreciated. The Galaxy Watch 4G is IP68 rated and water resistant up to 5ATM.

Our 46mm Galaxy Watch came with a 22mm watch band made of silicone. It was easy to remove and could be replaced with any strap of the same size. We found the band comfortable even when sweating.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4G uses Samsung’s Exynos 9110 SoC, which is a dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. The Galaxy Watch has 1.5GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage that can be used to store music and apps. The Galaxy Watch lets you pair Bluetooth headphones directly to it, eliminating the need for a smartphone in everyday use (though you still need one to set it up).

The Galaxy Watch 4G runs Samsung’s Wearable OS based on Tizen. It can be paired with both Android and iOS devices. In terms of app support, we found it limited compared to Google’s Wear OS and Apple’s WatchOS. Samsung has tried to reduce the dependency on third-party apps by offering many features directly out-of-the-box. In terms of connectivity, the watch has Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, NFC, A-GPS, Glonass and 4G LTE. It also has accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, heart rate sensor and ambient light sensor.

The underlying software is the same one we used when we reviewed the Galaxy Watch last year, so we recommend checking out the review for details. The Galaxy Watch 4G’s cellular connectivity must be set up using the Galaxy Wearable app on your smartphone. In India, only Airtel and Reliance Jio offer e-SIM functionality so you will have to subscribe with any carrier for 4G connectivity on the watch.

We used our Galaxy Watch 4G with Jio e-SIM which was easy to set up. You need to insert a SIM card into the smartphone you use to set the clock. The watch smartly turns off its 4G capabilities when paired with a smartphone, and turns back on when you go out of range. You can bypass this and leave the watch connected to a 4G network at all times, but this will affect battery life.

Samsung’s AMOLED display on the Galaxy Watch 4G is vibrant and has great viewing angles. The brightness of the screen is automatically adjusted according to the surrounding light conditions. The board makes it easy to navigate, and we love the smartwatch’s simple user interface.

We didn’t notice any lag or stutter while using the Galaxy Watch 4G, and the overall experience was amazing. In fact, we found it hotter than the Apple Watch Series 5 (review), which we recently reviewed. The Galaxy Watch has some fitness features, so for example, if we sit at our desk for a while we are reminded to move. This is a very useful feature that can help you avoid sitting for too long. When we go for a walk, the device will automatically recognize it and start recording our steps. We walked 1,000 steps and the Galaxy Watch 4G recorded 990 which is an acceptable deviation, although we have seen better results from other devices like the Amazfit Bip Lite we recently reviewed.

The Galaxy Watch 4G also monitors heart rate all the time, and it’s set to measure at 10-minute intervals by default. You can change it to Always On, but that will shorten your battery life. A neat touch we noticed was that the watch would automatically switch to continuous heart rate monitoring during a workout, saving us the effort of doing so. Heart rate tracking was accurate when we compared this device to the Apple Watch Series 5.

Since the Galaxy Watch 4G has built-in GPS and cellular connectivity, we left our pair of smartphones behind and went for a walk. After walking the distance which we know is exactly 1 km, the Galaxy Watch 4G reports it as 1.02km which is pretty good.

Sleep tracking was also accurate, and the Galaxy Watch 4G could accurately record our sleep and wake times. However, we didn’t like wearing the watch while sleeping, as it wasn’t as compact and light as fitness bands like the Amazfit Bip Lite (Review) or the Mi Band 4 (Review) and Honor Band 5 (Review) .

Battery life on the Galaxy Watch 4G will vary depending on how you use the device’s various features. With 4G set to auto, without the always-on display feature, with heart rate tracking set to 10-minute intervals, and a constant connection to our Samsung Galaxy S10+ ( review ), it lasted about four days. . During this time we constantly checked notifications around the clock. When we turned on 4G, turned on the always-on display and received a few calls through the device, the battery life dropped to just two days. Took a long time to load. This wearable device charges 35 percent in one hour and takes about three hours to fully charge.

We’re reviewing this 4G version of the Galaxy Watch almost a year after we reviewed the Wi-Fi version, and not much has changed in the wearable space since then. WearOS has yet to make any major strides, and while the Apple Watch Series 5 manages to do a lot, it’s limited to only working with Apple devices, and commands a premium.

The 42mm variant of the Galaxy Watch 4G is priced at Rs. 28,490 while the larger 46mm variant is priced at Rs. 30,990 is At these prices, the Galaxy Watch 4G doesn’t have much competition. However, regardless of the cost, Android users should opt for the Galaxy Watch 4G only if they need cellular connectivity on the smartwatch. Samsung should consider bringing the cellular version of the new Galaxy Watch Active 2 to India, giving buyers more options to choose from.
