I have been testing the device for almost a month, including its design, display, performance, camera, battery life and overall quality. This is my full review.

It only supports 5 multi-touch input instead of the usual 10 and it doesn’t look good. However, I use smartphones with very high screen resolutions and high refresh rates, so these quirks come to mind.
On the plus side, the phone software offers many display features, including a dark mode and blue light filter. Both can be turned on at specific times to help reduce eye strain at night.
The RealPi Benchmark measures the time required to calculate a million π numbers from a smartphone. Shorter times mean better CPU performance.
The MediaTek Helio P35 chipset powers the Samsung Galaxy A12 along with 4GB or 6GB of RAM. These should be enough to run most apps like Facebook, Google Chrome and YouTube.

However, it works well. It takes 15.19 seconds to calculate 1 million units of pi using the RealPi benchmark. There are also lags and stutters when there are multiple apps running in the background and multiple notifications.
Just like the other phones I reviewed, I tested the device’s frame rate while playing these games. It can run popular games like Mobile Legends, Call of Duty Mobile and PUBG Mobile but it has limited graphics. Its game performance is not very good with lag and frame drops during contention.
In fact, the operating system and UI software have a huge contribution to mobile performance. The Samsung Galaxy A12 runs Android 11 with One UI 2.5 software.
The user interface and icons look better with a visual design and focus on accessibility for one-handed use.

However, this software comes with a lot of pre-loaded apps which may not be useful for everyone. These include many Samsung apps and Microsoft apps. Fortunately, many of these programs can be eliminated.
For security, the Samsung Galaxy A12 has a fingerprint scanner that works most of the time but it takes a lot of time to unlock the device.
The Samsung Galaxy A12 has a quad rear camera with a 48-megapixel main camera, a 5-megapixel ultra-wide camera and two 2-megapixel cameras for great photos and depth information.
Its main camera takes pictures with great detail and natural colors. It also has an auto-HDR feature that produces bright images and a high-intensity “wow” factor. However, Auto HDR cannot be activated manually.

The wide angle camera is surprisingly good. It has a field of view of 123 degrees and can record wide-angle movies. However, wide-angle photos are not as attractive and clear as regular photos.
At night, the weakness of the Samsung Galaxy A12 camera becomes apparent. Photos in low light are often soft and grainy. There is no dedicated night mode in the default camera app, so an LED flashlight or other light source is necessary.
Meanwhile, the 8-megapixel front camera takes care of selfies. However, it can produce good selfies only in bright conditions. Pregnancy selfies are often grainy to reveal backgrounds.

Its camera is promising, but some tweaks to the camera equipment need to be made to reach its full potential. Hopefully Samsung can release a software update that includes manual HDR mode and a dedicated night mode.
The Samsung Galaxy A12 is a dual SIM phone with 4G LTE connectivity. It can provide good mobile internet speed in areas with good 4G signal coverage.
It supports VoLTE, and standard voice calls from your phone. However, the speaker does not sound too loud and even has a noticeable distortion from about 85% up.
Fortunately, it has Dolby ATMOS for headphones, which improves the sound quality. Free earphones come free in the box, although I would recommend getting a better TWS or even a pair of earphones for a few hundred bucks.

A massive 5000mAh battery powers the Samsung Galaxy A12. It can last almost two full days on a single charge with normal use. In my usage, the phone still has 35-40% battery capacity after a day.
In PCMark Battery Life Test 2.0, the device got a battery life score of 13 hours and 36 minutes. It lasts as long as realme 6i and slightly better than Huawei Y7p.
However, charging the device from 0% to 100% battery capacity using the included 15W fast charger takes a long time at around 3 hours and 20 minutes.
I can recommend the Samsung Galaxy A12 as a Samsung brand phone with a guaranteed high resolution camera and long battery life.

Its bright screen is also a pleasant surprise, but not like the brand’s AMOLED. There are also some performance issues, especially in gaming, poor photography, and charging times.
OPPO offers a similar package with the OPPO A15s while the vivo Y20s [G] has a better chipset to play without the 48MP camera. The Realme C25 uses a better chipset, a bigger battery and the same 48MP camera, but with half the storage.
