The Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ get updated primary cameras and slight size changes, while the Galaxy S22 Ultra is Samsung’s first phone with a built-in S Pen since the Note20 Ultra 2020.
The Galaxy S22 and S22+ come with upgraded camera setups compared to their predecessors, including a much larger main sensor and proper telephoto cameras instead of using digital zoom from the 64MP sensor. These, along with new control circuits that provide a serious boost to computer photography, promise to significantly improve image quality.

The Galaxy S22 is more than half a centimeter shorter than the S21 in addition to being slightly slimmer. This brings it closer to the Galaxy S10e than its predecessor, and makes it Samsung’s first truly compact flagship in three years.
The Samsung Galaxy S22+ has also shrunk a bit, which helps it distance itself from the Ultra series a little better. It probably won’t completely escape the anonymity of being a middle child, but it can be seen as a viable option for those who think the Ultra is too big, instead of just serving as a consolation for those who prefer a bigger dog too expensive.
The S22 duo’s flatter bezels compared to the Galaxy S21 and S21+ also make them a bit more compact, although they do compromise grip a bit. Along with Gorilla Glass Victus (the new Plus version then), the front and back panels are also more premium.
The Galaxy Note series seems to be gone forever, but its legacy lives on. Last year we had the Galaxy S21 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold3 that supported the S Pen, but due to the lack of a built-in holster in either phone, few people bothered to buy one.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra embodies the spirit of the Galaxy Note much better, and even its design is more similar to the Note 20 Ultra than the S21 Ultra. In the second half of the year, the flagship slot is reserved for sophisticated devices, so it’s better to have a flagship Note series and the S series, the best of both worlds, than no Note at all. It would actually be better that way, even if there was no complexity to worry about.
The top models of the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note were becoming redundant, with the only difference being the addition of an S Pen slot. The S9+ and Note9 had the exact same camera setup, the S10 5G and Note10+ had almost the same setup (slightly different lenses), and the S20 Ultra/Note20 Ultra only had different telephoto lenses.
With the S22 Ultra, Samsung also returns to a more aggressively curved screen and a squarer overall shape. There’s a good reason for that too – the S Pen container means it can’t be shrunk like the S21 Ultra.
In the S22 and S22+, the main cameras are upgraded to a large 50MP sensor with improved OIS. The telephoto cameras are now also from the original 3X telephoto compared to the previous 64MP hybrid solution of the S21 and S21+. So it’s only fair to expect them to take better photos and videos than their predecessors.

The S22 Ultra, on the other hand, has mostly identical camera hardware. In fact, the only differences are the smaller sensors on the TV cameras. But we all know the importance of computer photography for the image quality of today’s smartphones. Samsung says its software has led to significant improvements in low-light photography and video, but we won’t know for sure until the reviews come out.
We have yet to find out if these software improvements will make it to the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
In recent times, Android smartphone manufacturers have shown interest in extending the life of their devices with firmware updates, but none more so than Samsung. Not only has the company surpassed the previous “standard” of two major Android updates, but it also often releases monthly security patches before Google even updates its Pixels.
Samsung then offers four years of One UI updates and five years of security updates. Only Google promises such support, and it only includes three major updates.

Samsung is reportedly planning to include S Pen support for the high-end Z Fold3, something many fans have been hoping for since the first Galaxy Fold. Unfortunately, the displays in the first and second generation Folds are too fragile to support such input. We wonder how Samsung can make the display more durable and if it will be able to achieve this for the Z Fold3.
Ahead of 2022, ETNews reports that Samsung even plans to launch a foldable smartphone in late 2021 or next year. LG has already registered a trademark for its foldable smartphone, but we don’t have an exact timeline for that yet. 2021 will be quite an interesting year for the mobile industry as we will (hopefully) see the prices of sophisticated devices start to drop.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 Being Tested, Has A 50mp Primary Camera
I hope they can continue Z Flip. Phones are getting bigger and bigger and I’m not a fan of it. The Galaxy A12 is one of the cheapest members of Samsung’s A series and has been a regular feature on our trend chart since its launch in December. It’s quite different from most of its siblings as it’s one of the few Samsung phones to have an IPS panel instead of AMOLED, the latter being clearly too expensive for the target budget.
And while the panel doesn’t get an OLED upgrade, the Galaxy A12 still offers quite a few upgrades over its predecessor. For example, there’s a slight increase in the size of the screen – up to 6.5″. From 3GB/32GB to 6GB/128GB This gives you more options beyond the 1GB increase in base RAM.
We expect the biggest improvement to come in the camera department. The 13-megapixel sensor has been replaced by a much larger 48-megapixel sensor. Those 48-megapixel Quad-Bayer (or Tetracell, to use Samsung’s term) sensors have helped improve image quality significantly in the mid-range, and it’s great to see them now making the transition to the entry-level.
The 5-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide camera and 2-megapixel depth sensor carry over from the Galaxy A11, and there’s also a new addition, though it’s unlikely to make much of a difference – a 2-megapixel dedicated macro shooter.

A teardrop-shaped notch on the front houses the 8-megapixel f/2.2 selfie camera. It’s a bit strange to see Samsung go from a punch-hole design to a notch, but performance is more important and we’ll certainly cover that in detail in the review.
Another big upgrade is the battery capacity. The Galaxy A12 has a 5,000 mAh unit, compared to the A11’s 4,000 mAh, so we expect a significant increase in endurance. 15W charging doesn’t sound amazing, but it’s not too bad for an entry-level phone anyway. And unlike the latest premium phones, this one comes with the requisite charger.
