The V60 ThinK 5G — I won’t mention “ThinK” other than that, thanks — upgrades the inside with Qualcomm’s latest processor, 5G data, an improved camera that can shoot 8K video, and more. But for a mobile segment that continues to struggle, the V60 feels a bit repetitive – especially in the design department. It has a 6.8-inch FHD+ (2460 x 1080) OLED panel. There are significant improvements inside the phone. The V60 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 chipset and supports 5G connectivity. On most carriers, it’s optimized for sub-6 5G networks, but there’s a (more expensive) model designed for ultra-fast millimeter-wave data rates. You get 128GB of built-in storage with optional microSD expansion and 8GB of RAM. There’s also Wi-Fi 6, and LG says the V60’s 5,000mAh battery can last 30 percent longer than the G8k. As before, that second screen matches the primary one perfectly. It is the same size and resolution. Yes, it still mimics the notch because LG uses the same part of the panel to save costs. You can position the hinge however you like, turning the V60 into a mini laptop. Previously, only LG’s own apps could use both screens simultaneously. But with the V60, LG managed to force Google’s apps — Google Photos, Google Maps, YouTube, etc. — to work in “wide view” mode that spans both screens at the same time. This seems a bit silly, because when the phone is held vertically, the apps literally span two screens with a large split in the middle. But switching to landscape lets you use one screen as a full-screen keyboard, which helps you block emails in Gmail a little faster and with less typing.
For the most part, the V60’s dual-screen configuration is still ideal for multitasking with different apps. This remains the Uber / Lyft driver command center. You can watch videos on one screen while sending or scrolling Instagram messages. And when you’re playing games, you can use the extra screen as a gamepad and customize where all the buttons go. However, LG has not been able to solve all its shortcomings with the dual screen. The second screen still has its own launcher and home screen, which can be awkward to manage compared to those on a regular phone.
