Both devices are my top picks for current laptops, and have not had any battery issues yet thanks to USB-C power delivery and large power banks, the latest for computers in a year. I’m worried I’m using the X1C7 every day because of the increased battery life (yes, although the battery size has decreased by ~11%), and the keyboard can be used on 1.5mm.

Before we get into the actual review of the X1 Carbon 6th Generation, it’s important to note that I have high hopes for this machine. I’m writing this from the perspective of a diehard ThinkPad fan. My main phone machine I thought I could replace was the X1C6 with a heavily modified T430 that I actually built from scratch.
I’ve bought, parted, destroyed, or abused over a dozen T430 ThinkPads in the last 2-3 years alone, making other budget choices and advanced machines. I probably have 4 or 5 friends who are using a T430 in their daily driver, and they spent less than $250 because I convinced them to try it (and get them to build one to their specifications). My T430 is built from at least 6 of those machines, and I often find myself expressing religious behavior when it comes to the T430.

While typing this post, I’m using between 5 and 9 watts, which translates to an average of about 8 hours – and there are no developers or CPU intensive tasks. It seems like the light internet works around this amount, so don’t get your hopes up if you’re waiting more than 6-8 hours under normal conditions.
