#181. Yes, most of them. The base version of the statue will feature Wolverine with his more modern mask and large fins. However, the exclusive transfer comes with an alternate portrait that is faithful to the original mustache design. The Hulk is just as big, emerald and angry as he was 30 years ago. So there’s that anyway.
We got a look at a prototype at San Diego Comic-Con this summer, and it’s really amazing. It’s also very large, as it’s essentially two statues in one, but with that enormity comes a lot of incredible detail. Muscles and brawn practically ooze out of both characters, and seeing Olivet’s work rendered in 3D is a real treat. He’s always been good at taking on a lot of brutal characters like the Hulk, and seeing him in physical form gives you a good idea of the “real” Marvel world from Olivette’s point of view. Sideshow Collectibles didn’t reveal as much new Marvel work at San Diego Comic-Con 2016 as they usually do, but what they did show were some of the most stunning and fascinating statues at the event. And one of the statues is one of the most impressive Wolverine (and Hulk!) statues I’ve ever seen. I’ve been waiting impatiently since July, but the day is finally here – Hulk vs. Hulk Exclusive Viewing. The Wolverine Maquette is now ready to order! But all this beauty comes at a very high price…
While we usually see a few Wolverine statues come out every year, none have captured my heart quite like the Bowen Design Action Wolverine (Jim Lee) statue that came out over half a decade ago. I literally never thought I’d fall in love with another Jim Lee Wolverine statue as much as this one… until now.

Wolverine vs. Sideshow’s new Hulk might not only be the best Jim Lee Wolverine statue ever, but possibly the best Wolverine statue ever!
This incredible maquette stands 23 inches tall, weighs 20 pounds, and recreates the fight from Wolverine’s epic first fight with the Hulk – with the added twist of Wolverine wearing his beloved Jim Lee-era mask (fear not yet, first-look Wolverine fans – keep reading).
From the ferocious grin on Logan’s face to the aggressive poses and battle suit, this Sideshow Wolverine statue is almost without a doubt one of the best renditions we’ve ever seen of the most popular X-Men character.
Of course, as good as he is, Wolverine is a small part of this “against” statue. There’s also another man depicted on a giant polystone – the giant of the Jedi himself, the Hulk!
Relive Wolverine’s First Appearance With Sideshow’s New Statue
The Hulk is another character that has no shortage of statues, but again, this is a classic representation of the Hulk. Hulk from Hulk vs. Wolverine is posed in a ferocious, ready-to-mow pose that looks and feels perfectly suited for this giant shootout.
I already have a few Hulk sculpts (I’m embarrassed to say I’ve forgotten exactly how many), but from the perfect proportions to Hulk’s muscular back to his ripped jeans and Hulk’s angry face, I already knew this was going to be the one. One of my favorite Hulks I’ve ever owned.
They even thought that Hulk’s feet were covered in dirt and mud! How cool is that?!
But the bad news: this Marvel masterpiece costs $649.99. Now, make no mistake: this is a huge and truly beautiful piece, and probably worth the $650 price tag.

A statue requiring multiple car payments is a tough pill to swallow for many. (Thank goodness I can only say the Flexpay payment plan for Sideshow Collectibles.) As always, there is a Sideshow Exclusive Edition of this statue, and this time the additional exclusive items are great. Wolverine’s first appearance was in The Incredible Hulk #180-181, and you can recreate that legendary battle with an exclusive first-look Wolverine interchangeable portrait!
While Wolverine’s original costume isn’t one of my favorites, this is a case where the inclusion of Wolverine’s original head replacement is an absolute must for this particular fight (at least in my opinion). This limited exclusive takes this statue from “wait and hope it’s on sale” to “better grab it now and eat instant noodles for a month” for me. (Your priorities may vary.)
Hulk vs. The Exclusive Sideshow Wolverine is available to order now and is scheduled to ship in August 2017. While I always hate waiting for new toys to arrive, I’m honestly thankful that this beauty got a little lost because it means a lot. It’s time to make smaller Flexpay payments to Watch Collections!
