The walls of our house were painted yellow when we bought it. There was nothing wrong with yellow, it just wasn’t me. This was not the feel I wanted for our home. A bright, clean, cozy, minimal look that I always strive for.
Our walls are made only in white by Benjamin Moore. A light and warm white that we love.

Painting existing cabinets is a great, budget-friendly way to update your kitchen without replacing the cabinets. After moving into our house, painting the walls and painting the kitchen cabinets were the first jobs we did. I would say the most transformative.
This was a big change for us! It was also relatively simple and affordable. I found our candles at a Wayfair sale or through the Facebook marketplace. Lighting lamps, in my opinion, are the most popular characters of the interior of the house.
Customizing the kitchen appliances from the basic black knobs in our house when we bought it was a game changer for our kitchen. I’m a golden girl myself, so changing them to our style and taste changed the space for me.
We also chose to change the cabinet hinges to white as they were previously black. I missed it when I painted the cabinets. This helped me a lot in terms of “hiding” the studs! These on Amazon are similar to what we landed on.

I don’t know why I waited so long to do this. I don’t think I realized how affordable a good kitchen faucet can be or how effective it can be. We replaced the main kitchen faucet from Amazon. We’ve been going for 2 years and still love it! $60 and it’s really great quality.
This is not the case for everyone. Maybe your dashboard doesn’t need to be updated. And in fact, if you rent, you can replace panels relatively easily. But, we didn’t have the money to upgrade the panel. Painting them was the best and most budget friendly way for us to stay within budget but still get the kitchen we wanted.

Last year we were able to make a big change in the downstairs bathroom by simply painting the walls and replacing the bathroom vanity and faucet. We did it in one weekend!

It might seem silly to add here, but it makes a difference! Ugly floors? Add a beautiful rug! do you hate carpet Add an area rug! Need to feel a little more comfortable? Add an area rug! That’s always the answer 😉 I think rugs really bring a room together and bring everything together. They can really create space.
Our interior doors were only painted white when we bought them, so we didn’t need to paint the doors. That said, if they hadn’t, it would have been a very early project for us after the transition. Having good interior doors makes a home look polished and cohesive.
Again, they were all just replaced in our house before we bought them. They do a lot to brighten up the house.
This is not always the answer. However, if you are struggling to get the look of brick in your home, painting may be the right answer. As soon as we saw the house, we knew we wanted to paint the brick fireplace white. It was a mix of orange and red brick (not pretty!)

Rearrange your furniture. Moving furniture into a space is free, not to mention a great workout. You’d be surprised how many different furniture configurations you can create in one room.
When moving furniture, don’t forget to pull it off the wall if you have the space. This tip is especially useful for living rooms. I have taken many photos of furniture that is attached directly to the wall or propped up in corners. If possible, you want to place the furniture outside the walls of the room. It makes the space perfect and elegant. For example, hold your couch a few inches to a few feet away from the wall and don’t push it. This eliminates the awkward dead space in the middle of the room and makes the space more comfortable.
Every room needs a carpet. Rugs anchor spaces and furniture, adding color, texture, warmth and interest, and rooms are often bare without them. From bathrooms to bathrooms to kitchens and living rooms, you need rugs! One question I hear a lot is whether or not carpet is good for carpeting, especially in bedrooms, and the answer is yes! You can absolutely lay rugs over carpet. You can even put rugs on top of rugs!
Adding drapery. Spend money on cheap decorative items, even if you don’t use them. Master living rooms and bedrooms look much more put together and finished if you have curtains to frame any windows! They give the space texture and softness. You can find very nice, sheer, white curtains that are very cheap. And they make a big difference in your space. My favorite budget curtains are from Ikea, yes I said Ikea.
