As with any painting project, the first step is to clean the entire area so that the paint and adhesive bond firmly to the surface. Some recommend cleaning laminate surfaces like interior doors with a sodium phosphate (TSP) solution, but you can use anything as long as it removes grease and oil.
Of course, you can be creative and make the wallpaper any size, but it should be square or rectangular to make the next step easy.
The homeowner used 17 1/4″ x 34 3/4″ panels by 3 1/4″ around each panel, but keep in mind that wallpaper tends to shrink a bit after it dries completely. She goes on to explain how she installed the wallpaper:
The wallpaper I used was pre-glued, so I put it in a tub of a little water for 30 seconds, took it out, accordioned it (folded the ends from the sticky side to the sticky side), and left it for 5 minutes (as per the instructions package). I then unrolled the wallpaper, lined it up with my marks on the door and smoothed it down. I used a plastic wallpaper smoothing tool I bought at Lowes to make sure all the air bubbles were gone and let it dry for a few hours.

You can use any type of cut you want! The homeowner used half-inch-wide trim that came in 8-foot lengths and cut it to the same size as the wallpaper with a 45-degree angle on each end. Lay the wood on a smooth surface, then use a 3/4-inch dowel to nail the molding in place (or just a handy hammer, but this door is hard to hammer in because it’s not strong, so keep that in mind ).
Once the trim is up, use wood filler to cover the nail holes and soften any cracks.
Use sandpaper to smooth the dried wood putty first, then paint the doors, trim and wallpaper any color you like. White goes well with the popular look of the cottage. Primer plus paint is always a favorite for those of us who have painted interior mobile home doors and cabinets because it covers well and lasts a while.
You can complete the transformation of interior mobile home doors by painting the hinges with metallic spray paint and adding a wider strip around the entire door. All in all, you’ll spend less than $30 (if you use leftover paint) to give your room a whole new look!

A few years ago, when the exterior of our double wide mobile home was being remodeled, we replaced all of the original windows. It was a wise investment because it not only updated the look of our home, but saved us money on our electric bill.

Most mobile home windows are not the standard standard sizes you can find at your local home store. Therefore, the choice to replace the windows left us with two options.
The first option was to order custom-sized windows to fit what was already in place. The other option was to cut larger holes to fit the size of the shelf windows.
For our home, we decided to have custom windows made by a local Amish business in our community. Ours are made by Countryside Windows in Stotts City, MO. We have purchased from them before and have received high quality workmanship.

For our home, we decided to use double-hung vinyl windows in a custom size to fit the space we were working with. Vinyl is an affordable and long-lasting option that comes in a variety of colors, but we chose white.
Double-hung windows are the easiest to clean. Both the top and bottom are open and the windows flip out. This makes cleaning extremely easy. It also allows more air flow into our home during the season when we may have windows open.
As I mentioned before, I like a lot of windows in my house. Our original kitchen layout had a small window over the sink with cabinets on either side.
So when I planned our 3D kitchen layout from Lily Ann Cabinets, I asked them to add two more windows. As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew it had to be in our kitchen remodel.

Now that they are installed, the amount of light that now floods our kitchen is beautiful and the space feels so much bigger.
When our contractor arrived, the first thing they did was look at the sketch plan we had. They then took some measurements and asked how we wanted to install the windows.
I am quite particular about the details, especially when it comes to placing the kitchen sink under the main window. So these guys were great at asking questions and making sure everything was just right.
Since we didn’t actually do the work, I’m unable to give exact details on how the guys completely removed the window. I know that in order to remove the window that was already installed, the guys started by removing the vinyl on the outside of the house.

They then had to cut the gasket around the inside of the window and pry it from the outside to get it out. After removing the window, they began to prepare to properly install the three.
The main kitchen window is 36×36 and that’s what was already in place. Two smaller windows measure 27×36. While installing the new ones, the guys had to rebuild some of the wall studs to cut them out to make room for the new windows.
This involved not only rearranging some of the walls, but also creating more support to hold the windows up. Watching the video will give you more of an idea of how they did this process.
Once the windows were in place, the boys made sure they opened and closed properly. After the contractors left, I was able to install the shiplap on the wall and add simple farmhouse style window trim.

I am so thankful that we decided to replace all the windows in our house with double hung, vinyl windows. I am even more thankful that we added more windows and created more light in our home. Our kitchen is now much more open and even bigger with lots of light pouring in.
