After signing up, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to click, and then another email that will include your new fax number and your PIN number. This second email ended up in my spam folder, so check there if you can’t find your PIN. After completing these steps, your fax number should be working and you can test it using one of the free fax services above. When you receive a new fax you should receive an email that also prompts you to download eFax Messenger. If you do not want to install the software, you can skip it and instead log into your eFax.com account and then click the eFax Message Center link. Once you see the new fax and when you open it you will again see a message asking you to download the eFax Messenger software. Ignore this and instead click on the file name below the message and you should see the fax Faxes only stay in your inbox for 30 days, so if you want to keep them, you can right-click them (or right-click on them on a Mac) and save the image file.

Not only can you get an incoming fax number with eFax.com in the US, but you can also get a number in Austria, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, so this is a great option if you do. Want to receive many incoming faxes abroad
Note that eFax has apparently adopted a policy that by being a user of their free service, you must agree to receive advertisements and special offers via email (translation: you can use the service for free as long as you allow them to spam you). That being said, I recommend signing up with an alternate email address so that your regular email address isn’t bombarded with daily spam for a service you only use a few times a year. If you use this service frequently and need fax notifications to arrive in your regular email, you can avoid spam emails by becoming a paid user of the service.
However, if you find the prospect of sending and receiving faxes online too complicated, you may want to consider an all-in-one printer.
