The slow start will be appreciated knowing this series is sure to start off with a bang. The episode has some footage to keep the pace of the episode moving, which is a good 42 minutes (not including the end credits). That’s a pretty standard runtime for a drama show, but it drags on about half the time. Not everything went as Marvel had hoped, but for the most part everything worked out. It’s definitely nice to spend more time with two characters the MCU doesn’t like, and both leads are always interesting. Anthony Mackie oozes natural beauty as Sam Wilson, while Sebastian Stan gives an unexpectedly funny performance as he does a great job playing a man overcoming a lot of heartache.
The Falcon And The Winter Soldier: Season 1, Episode 6 Review
The first thing to note is that our two heroes don’t share the screen in this opening scene. Sam and Bucky are living their separate lives, since their only friend Steve Rogers has retired and the Avengers may have been fired. Sam had about two-thirds of the time on the film, which makes sense because he’s got a lot to do right now. The beginning and end of the show affects him directly, so it makes sense that he uses the lion’s share of acting time.
Throughout the episode, we see how Sam is involved in the death of Steve Rogers. He’s still mourning the death of his best friend just six months ago (Rogers’ death isn’t mentioned, but at least it seems to have reverted to obscurity when the shield has already been provided). He returned to the United States Air Force, no doubt finding more courage to fight the good fight than to go back to being a dismal consultant.
The opening scene immediately shows the symbolic weight of Cap’s shield and Sam’s burden on his shoulders. He’s still sad and feels it’s not right to continue Captain America’s legacy. After all, who can live up to being the only person worthy enough to lift Mjolnir? The scene is shot as a series of close-ups on Sam and the shield, which does a good job of showing the intimate and personal nature of what’s happening.
Later, Sam presents the shield at a Captain America show, where he gives a speech proving that there shouldn’t be a Captain America without Steve Rogers. This was followed by a nice warm conversation between Sam and Rhodey, who attended the show opening. It’s clear why Don Cheadle saw fit to have him in this series; It’s a decent adventure, and while Rhodey may appear in a few episodes, it doesn’t look like he’ll be wearing the War Machine armor at this stage.

Sam’s grief comes to a head at the end of the episode when the US government reveals that they are quickly tossing Cap’s shield out of the museum and giving it to their newly appointed Captain America. Anthony Mackie does a great job of conveying Sam’s sadness and anger as he watches this new Cap wave goodbye on camera – you can understand America’s need to name a new Captain America, but feel no respect as soon as Steve, you lose. He should consider whether he feels like he should have taken up the mantle instead of having someone else do it. The series will definitely explore his feelings on the matter in upcoming episodes.
Sam also had the best action sequence of the event, which looks like something out of a movie in terms of choreography and special effects. Batroc returns to his original form after his fight with Steve Rogers inside
, and it’s fun to see Falcon match his acrobatic skills. The series starts off a little too small for the MCU, but it quickly pushes the stakes and tension. There is good camera work during the chase. Movies available on Netflix are not the same length
From there, it only got better. Batroc and his men escape the plane in wingsuits and hostages, and we have a chase among the rocks in the Middle Eastern cliffs (it is not clear in which country the action takes place). Batroc calls for rocket-toting helicopters, but Falcon is able to dispatch them with ease with help from his trusty Redwing drone, returning for the first time since his inception inside.

. It’s nice to see Redwing’s full battle power finally on display after so long. Tensions rise as Batroc approaches the Libyan border, giving Sam a limited window to bring him in without causing an international crisis.
Sure enough, Batroc was defeated and no one was spared. It seems Batroc is meant to be used as a warm-up for our heroes, following his similar role in
. That’s okay, because it actually happens in the first 15 minutes of the show. This is by far the most epic automotive series yet, so it’s interesting to wonder what the next five episodes have in store for us.
Bucky’s story is less explosive and more compelling, though it gets the interesting introduction of him when we’re introduced to another flashback to his time as the Winter Soldier. It’s funny to watch this serial killer take out targets in a hotel with a bad cold, but the series ends on a terrible note when Bucky kills an unfortunate witness in the killer, who was so shaken by the whole thing he couldn’t fit in his keys. door to his hotel room. It’s really creepy when you remember Bucky’s first story where he remembers all the people that he’s killed and how awful those memories are.

Of course, this quickly turns out to be a bad dream as Bucky talks to the doctor about him. Barnes deals with his pain in a very different way than Sam, although it must be said that he has a lot of guilt to deal with. He is very unhappy with the treatment and has difficulty following his doctor’s orders; he uses tough love to help Bucky deal with his demons. His own intelligence is heavily influenced by a Bucky character who tracks down a politician and scares the crap out of him.
However, even though Bucky seems to want to shut everyone out in his life (his doctor says he ignored Sam’s texts), we see that he’s not far behind. . His touching friendship with his old neighbor (who happens to be the father of that boy he killed back then) is a happy feeling that he needs some sort of social interaction, and you can’t help but have feelings for him. on her date with the cute and quirky Asian food vendor. It’s strange that Bucky remembers being a woman in the 1940s, but like Steve, he feels like someone who no longer exists in the midst of modern dating.
It’s unclear what will happen to Bucky. It may take LAF/Flag Smashers to regroup with Sam. The shadow organization, led by Helmut Zemo, wants to go back to the times of Blip and a world without borders, to which the title of the episode is linked:
. We don’t see many in this area; Sam’s friend Torres says he’s been watching them while they’re in Tunisia, and we see a brief scene in Switzerland where he’s beaten to death by a tough LAF agent.

It seems doubtful that there is a new superpowered villain in the world at the same time a new Captain America appears, but we need to see if there is a connection between the two. Apparently the woman handing out the LAF masks is the same girl we see fighting Sam and Bucky in the trailers, played by Erin Kellyman; this is her best role since she played Enfys Nest in it
There were a few things that weren’t right in this section. The result was somewhat unexpected, although the appearance of the new Captain America (confirmed as John Walker in detail, he will be familiar to some Marvel fans) is an exciting sign. But only at the end of the episode, which feels a little weird because it didn’t feel like it was building to a crescendo.
