This line of 5-inch figures was first announced by ToyWiz in March 2019. At least that’s what we hear from DBF. This is the first time we’ve had 5-inch scale action figures available in the US since Jakks Pacific lost the DBZ license in 2005.
Dragon Ball Evolve Action Figures
Series 1 figures have been very hard to find due to poor distribution and also poor naming online. Even though the packaging is labeled Dragonball Evolve, most online retailers simply called them “Dragon Ball Super 5 Inch Action Figures” or whatever they wanted to call them, making them incredibly difficult to find without checking each store. according to generic searches for ” Dragon Ball Super”. When they were first released, they were first seen in Canadian Walmart stores in August 2019. Online retailer Entertainment Earth is also known to have gotten them in early August 2019. Canadian EB Games stores started receiving them next. They were not seen in the US until September 2020 at a Target store in California, but the DB figures are not available at all but a few Target stores. Some US FYE stores and some US Walmart stores started selling them in October 2019. Amazon only started shipping orders in November (maybe December) 2019. Gamestop wasn’t mentioned until 2020, but its release month is technically unknown. . me. My nearest Gamestop in Texas never had any of these (since I last checked in March 2020), so even though Gamestop is the most trusted store for Dragon Stars (for me), even Gamestop disappointed me because I never had any at all figures.
Dragon Ball Evolve (5
The numbers were received with mixed reviews. Collectors of Irwin and Jakks like it but don’t like the missing painted details like the stripes on Goku’s boots and the fact that Vegeta is the same size as Goku and Broly is tiny. Newer collectors (people who started collecting in the 2010s) either love them or they don’t. They are a scale of numbers that modern collectors are not used to. They are used to Star Wars sizes (like Shodo), 6 inch sizes (like Figuarts and Dragon Stars) and larger sizes like Banpresto statues. Most people who have bought them have praised them for their great articulation and low price, stating that they look better than the Dragon Stars thanks to better articulation with less prominent tie pins.
With the release of Series 2, most (if not all) of us are excited that the figures now appear to be 5-inch scale, instead of just 5-inch. We all rightfully feared that Golden Frieza was bigger than Goku, thanks to the promotional image that showed him as such. But it looks like Bandai America listened to the fans and made the scale line.
Important details: The pack was seen at both the London Toy Fair and the Nuremberg Toy Fair (Nürnberger Spielwarenmesse) in February 2020. The figures appear to be the same as the individual releases. Possibly exclusive to Europe through Bandai UK and Bandai Europe distribution. The product code is 85819, the barcode is 3296580858194 and the package size is 5.0 x 36.0 x 22.5 cm according to NDA Toys Wholesale.
Price: The RRP (UK MSRP version) was £25.99, which at the time of writing (August 2020) was $34.15.
Bandai Dragon Ball Super Evolve Ultra Instinct Goku 5
Important details: After a year since the release of Series 1, we finally have the release of Series 2. The first known local sighting of these was at a Target store in Spring Valley, California on 08/05/2020. They appeared on eBay a few days earlier from a seller in Colorado and a seller in California. I don’t know where/how they found them though. (Maybe they have comic/anime stores or found them themselves at Target.) Amazon release date is August 17, 2020.
Important details: The numbers appear to be the same for each variant. Possibly exclusive to Europe through Bandai UK and Bandai Europe distribution. The product code is 36268, the barcode is 3296580362684 and the package size is 5.0 x 36.0 x 22.5 cm according to NDA Toys Wholesale.
Price: The RRP (UK version of MSRP) was £25.99, which at the time of writing (August 2022) was $31.40.
Release date: September 2021 (but the first thing I noticed on eBay was July 8, 2021, and someone saw you at Target on July 12, 2021. I found mine at Target on July 25, 2021)
Dragon Ball Evolve Action Figure 12 Cm
Important details: Almost a year after the release of series 2, we finally have series 3. The first report of this was published by Entertainment Earth around May 31, 2021. EE is the one who stated that they will be released in September 2021. .
Release date: August 2022 (I first noticed them on eBay on August 9, 2022, they appeared on Walmart’s website the same week, and the first time I saw someone find them locally was 8/21/2022).
Details worth noting: This is the first exclusive Evolve figure produced by Bandai. It was launched in August 2022, so a year after the launch of the 3 Series, the 4 Series has yet to appear in stores or on eBay. The packaging looks (basically) exactly the same as the Vegeta SSB packaging from Series 1, except that the color has been changed. The packaging is pink and blue like the other Series 1 figures, although it was released a few years later.
Available on the Walmart site, but currently (9/8/22) none of the Walmarts near me say it is available for pickup…not sure if that will change…or not.
Dragon Ball Super Evolve Set Of Figures
Release Date: October 2022 (I first heard about this on 10/5/22 and when I placed my order it said it would arrive on 10/7/22).
Details worth noting: This is the second Evolve figure produced by Bandai, a store exclusive. It doesn’t seem to have been advertised as it took us all by surprise. The packaging looks (basically) exactly like the SSB Goku Series 1 packaging, but the character image is repainted. The packaging is pink and blue like the other Series 1 figures, although it was released a few years later.
I had vegeta make a custom gohan in saiyan armor. I want her to look like this photo but with super saiyan hair. I will probably use tamiya thinner to remove the gray paint from the breastplate.

Dragon Ball Super Evolve Super Saiyan Trunks
Today is the first time I’ve seen anyone mention finding a Walmart exclusive SS Vegeta at their local Walmart (today). Some people who ordered it online received theirs last week.
Bandai Namco Play (formerly Bandai America) posted on 08/19/2022: “Don’t miss your chance to get the 5-inch Dragon Ball Super Evolve SS Blue Goku and NEW exclusive SS Vegeta just arrived at Walmart! Get yours today @walmart.com! bit.ly/3Ca1od2 bit.ly/3JZuJca” meaning that SSB Goku has been reintroduced. It doesn’t look like SSB Goku is a variant, but there could be a slight color difference (maybe) just from reproducing the figures years after when they were first issued.
