The Kingston HyperX Cloud II is probably the most popular $100 gaming headset out there, and for good reason. It mixes sturdy plastic with shiny metal parts for excellent build quality. It comes with a well-padded headband and two sets of ear pads; The leather pads are original and the headphones are very soft and comfortable. With the latter, the Cloud II is comfortable for several hours. The microphone quality could be better: it’s too soft out of the box, and once it’s out, your voice sounds a little too clear. It sounds so clear – people will hear you easily.
The sound quality of the popular Cloud II is impressive, with rich bass and balanced mids – loud enough to hear footsteps. The mids can be sharp at times during action moments, but for the most part it’s a pleasant listen. Sound placement is further to the left than your surroundings, but the darker Tronsmart Alpha and HyperX Cloud Stinger have an edge in competitive multiplayer games. The Cloud II does a great job of separating game sounds from voice chat, but it’s easy to hear them clearly at the same time.
Note that the volume and mute controls require USB and software, so are only available for PC and Mac users. No volume control or mute button when dialing your controller – 1 point deducted from total score.

The HyperX Cloud II is the best gaming headset under $100, with great comfort, two sets of ear cushions, and great sound and voice chat quality.
The Tronsmart (Glary) Alpha is probably made of cheap plastic, and it can be had for a cheap price. The larger design is incredibly comfortable thanks to the band structure consisting of two different pads on the head instead of a tight band connecting the two large ear tips. It feels quite heavy – but it’s not too tight and you can comfortably wear this style for hours. But you can’t adjust the headband, so it’s not great for smaller heads. The Alfa has excellent microphone quality: your voice sometimes cracks on the highest notes, but background noise is superbly reduced while you sound nice, loud and clear.
However: the sound quality is the real star of the show. Unlike many other models, the Alfa does not overemphasize the mid tones. Footsteps around you sound darker than the loudest mid-focus headphones, but these mid-focus headphones sound too warm and annoyingly bright when the action gets going. Glary Alpha preserves details even in crowded environments. And what detail is offered! Extended bass and low frequencies make the sound full and rich, resolving even the slightest background noise. The Best Gaming Headsets Under $100 Of 2023
With excellent microphone clarity, rich warm sound and excellent sound localization, the Tronsmart Alpha is perfect for single player gaming, playing with friends and competitive gaming.
Better shopping for under $25? The Mpow brand has two excellent offerings, the EG3 Pro and the EG10. Both are great options, but the EG10 is a more compact model that’s probably better for smaller heads.

The Cloud Alpha’s emphasis on bass and dark tones makes for a great single-player experience, but it lacks the high-note clarity of other HyperX models, making it easy to hear and place footsteps, voices and distant gunfire. Other models do a better job of separating game sounds from voice chat; It builds too much on the Alpha and sometimes makes it hard to hear people. It’s a great headset – just not as good as the Cloud II.
