We limit our numbers to small classes to be able to respond to the needs of each group, so this is a general outline of what you can expect. We will adjust the class if necessary.

Boston School Of Music Arts

We start with the fundamental mechanics of film photography and teach you the main principles of the ‘exposure triangle’, the combination of shutter speed, aperture and film sensitivity you need to use to calculate the correct exposure for your images.

Let’s talk a little about the basic principles of composition, and then put these new skills into practice working with available light in an immediate environment.

We will guide you through processing your negatives and then digitally scan them for feedback. Depending on the course of the day, feedback can be obtained on the same day or via a remote session the week after the workshop.

There are no prerequisites, but you will get the most out of this class if you are willing to overcome the sometimes frustrating challenges of learning new concepts.
