I wanted a sim card only for the old phone, for rare, paid calls to 0800, 0845, etc. numbers from mobile. My usual provider charges high prices for these calls in my opinion and can often result in an unexpected extra bill at the end of the month. With my pay as you go sim with O2, I can limit the costs to the 0800 numbers I call, and if I happen to be transferred to a number that charges very expensive premium rates, the financial damage I’ll be exposed to is limited to the small amount of credit I put on my SIM card. I wouldn’t use this card for regular daily calls to normal numbers, but it’s a useful backup.
I like the O2 Classic SIM for my old PAYG phone as it offers cheap usage for calls and texts without any fixed costs or loss of credit each month with some other cards. They used to be free but now at just 99p for next day delivery it’s still a very good buy.
None of the O2 stores carry this Sim! – O2 may phase out the PAYG Sim in the near future in favor of their new PAYG “get more from you” including Sims which generally only last 30 days – O2 Classic Sim 3-2-1 pricing is still one of the most expensive – effective Sims currently available for someone who doesn’t make a lot of calls but prefers more texts – no 30-day expiry of your top-up credit, or 4G ready out of the box with compatible 4G phones. Recommended
